Now hold your horses sis. I didn't say this was gonna be a smash hit. But I can see this doing something like 48/140. Still a sizable drop, but not to the extreme of something like Alice or Pets. Especially if something breaks out, especially something for adult women. -

FWIW, when I saw Aladdin, the Maleficent teaser got a pretty decent reaction from people, especially a group of girls behind me. Anecdotal, and trailer reactions aren't the end all be all, but I think there's still a decent-sized audience for this that's still fond of the first movie, particularly people who aren't in the BOT demographic. Also helps it's coming out when there's really nothing out for women, and especially girls, until maybe Charlie's Angles (and of course for girls nothing until Frozen) -

I was worried I was the only one who thought Maleficent would do acceptable business. Glad to see I'm not alone. -

When this first got announced, somebody mentioned that pretty much all of the love for the first MIB was Will Smith's presence, and nobody really cared about the actual lore or world of Men in Black. Independence Day kinda had the same problem too. I feel like having at least one of the two leads be a big A-lister would have helped the movie out immeasurably. Jumanji and Aladdin played it smart by replacing their former A-list star with another big A-list star. Jumanji even had two (arguably three if you want to include Jack Black in there)
