  1. Isle of Dogs. Runners up in no particular order: Red Sparrow, Wrinkle in Time, Love, Simon, RPO, Death of Stalin, and Uprising, if only for Boyega, Day, and the trailer music.
  2. I had a super weird dream last night. So I went to a showing of Sherlock Gnomes at 12:30 on Friday (Don't ask why that movie), and yet the whole theater was packed, with babies, kids, teens, and adults. I went down in the very front as previews were about to start. There was some kid babbling over and over, so I moved to another seat, right next to my Mom, who coincidentally saw the same movie at the same time in the same theater. There was a trailer that was going on for about 5 minutes, and the crowd got super angry, so the projectionist stopped the trailer halfway through. And then it went to a sequel to Legend of the Guardians (the Zack Snyder owl movie) I was super confused and thinking to myself, "Wait 'till BOT hears about this," but the crowd still got mad because they wanted to see Gnomes, so all the trailers got cut, which got me upset. Then the Paramount logo came up, but for some reason, the Mountain was replaced with Cookie Monster. I guess there was a Sesame Street short playing, but all I saw was some live-action bits with Johnny Depp, and I later got distracted by some teenage girl behind me talking super loud with her. I asked her quietly to stop talking, then she got pissy with me and started getting louder and louder, and I was getting more angry, but my Mom was getting mad at me, and said something like "Eric, sit down and ignore them." So I was in a bad mood, and just said to myself, "@WrathOfHan will have a field day with this." Then I noticed the screen was completely black, and then I realized, "Wait a minute...it's January." And then I woke up. ...I have issues.
  3. Something I'm stealing from @La Binoche from the weekend thread: In Spring 2016, Hello, My Name is Doris, a Roadside film, managed to gross $14.4 million, with a maximum of 979 theaters. The Meddler, an SPC film, grossed only $4.3 million, at a maximum of 464 theaters. They both got the same level of reception, were considered crowdpleasers, and were targeting the exact same audience, and yet one was a modest success, while the other is completely forgotten. I know that release date plays a big factor for these films and how many theaters and screens they're able to get, but I still think Meddler could have done better under a different studio. Better yet, a good chunk of SPC's recent English-language films could have garnered more success under different distributors. An Education could have tripled its gross under Focus, as would Whiplash under Fox Searchlight. I'd even argue Still Alice would have made a touch more under Focus or Weinstein (back in 2015 of course) In short, SPC needs better campaigners, new management, or at the very least just stick to foreign-language films.
  4. She was probably super busy filming both Mary Poppins and The Post so the creatives decided to focus on a young Streep played by Lily James
  5. The Annihilation trailer is still the one that's been stalking me the most lately, and I'm so excited when that movie's gone and I'll never see that trailer again. Every time I watch it, I think to myself, "I'm supposed to be excited for this movie, because...?" This one also looks more rough the more I see it (I've got it twice)
  6. Remember in 2011 when he and his ex-wife appeared in two different live-action/animated hybrids in the same year, and only a couple of months apart? Maybe Smurfs making more money than Hop was what caused Brand to file for divorce.
  7. This is my favorite parody poster btw. I would totally watch a movie called The Fussiest Englishman, so get on that Sony!
  8. Though in all seriousness, I think the reason these posters are made are to get a laugh out of parents and to garner more attention on the Internet and social media buzz than it is to appeal to children. I still think Zootopia was the master at these parodies, and they knew it, considering they would make these types of posters three times (one for regular films, one for Oscars 2016, one for Oscars 2017)
  9. Only just got around to seeing this. This is why you're the best member on this forum. Don't let the haters who say "Goddammit Ethan" put you down.
