Do you think Mockingjay can open above Transformers 4?
Of course. Mockingjay isn't going to drop to sub-100m.
-
I think it's pretty obvious at this point that Interstellar will edge out Mockingjay Part 1 in the long run.
Don't get ahead of yourself.

If you think These are meltdowns, wait until Batman v Superman opens below TDKR.

Solid for MJ1 and pretty good for IS. If MJ1 opens to less than $130m, I think there's a huge chance GOTG wins the year.

cant have meltdowns start to early
You just know exactly how to tease us so that we want more.

Good drops for D&DT and IS. Weekend drops could be better than expected due to MJ1 not matching CF's opening.

I know it's still too early to say, but maybe now Interstellar could manage a sub-50% drop for the weekend.

I must say, this thread was a fun read.
I'm a bit surprised by the MJ1 number as well, but IMO 130m+ is still very possible.
Also, I'm wondering if the snowstorms in the US had an impact on that number.

expect a lot of sarcasm like this here or you get eaten alive
I assumed it was sarcasm. I just wanted to make sure it was.

Tbh, when I first saw thise estimates I thought they were typos.
I think Rth could be underestimating the increases a bit, but not by much.

2014 comedies
22 Jump St - 192
Neighbors - 150
Ride Along - 135
Tammy - 85
The Other Woman - 84
Lets Be Cops - 82
Think Like A Man Too - 65
The Grand Budapest Hotel - 59
Blended - 46
A Million Ways To Die In The West - 43
Sex Tape - 39
If DADT can get above Tammy, that seems like it would be a good result.
Frankly the same could be said for Horrible Bosses 2. With the competition it's gonna face, I think a drop from the first one is in order.

Loving how Interstellar always increases from overseas estimates.

Ouch at the drops. Still pretty good though.

Haha I remember in the 90's Leo was just like a goofy teen heatthrob. It's crazy how he's such a big movie star now
Yeah, he has definitely had one of the most surprising and impressive career-turnarounds I can remember from any actor/actress ever.

Let us know what you thought!
It took third place away from GOTG.

Oh, also, very importantly, it should finally break the record for the fastest film to reach $1B worlwide (currently 19 days and shared between Avatar, Harry Potter 7 - Part 1 and Avengers). My guess is 15-17 days.
Deahtly Hallows Part 1 didn't make 1B WW, Part 2 did. Otherwise I agree though.

Fantastic numbers for the Top Three. So happy for IS which I finally saw today. Not my favorite of the year, but still really, really good and extremely ambitious.

I'm going to see Interstellar in a few hours and I'm expecting it to crack my Top Three, bur´t for now it's:
1. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
2. X-Men: Days of Future Past
3. Guardians of the Galaxy

For me it would also be either Disney or WB.

In Terms of box office, obviously Edge of Tomorrow. Although it had a nice box office total, I think Godzilla is better than some people think.

That's too many negations for me. Also this thread really is a throwback to old times where derailments were allowed.
