Was hoping it would crack 200M with actuals, but ok. As long as it manages to gross $600+M WW and becomes highest grossing film of Kong and Godzilla franchise, all is good.

Honestly surprised too, I figured GvK had the novelty of seeing the two fight each other, but the trailers for GxK were kind of lacking a similar hook to me. Turns out GA just wants monster movies.
More like GVK didn't reach its full potential at the time of release atleast domestically. Had GvK released today, it would be doing better than what GxK is doing. Lot of people caught it on OTT and enjoyed it enough to come for the sequel. That and the audience that couldn't go for GvK are coming for this.

If filming begins in August then there is no way it will release in July 2025. That is less than a year turnaround for a vfx heavy movie.
I see another delay. Maybe November or December 2025 if Avatar 3 gets delayed to December 2026.

That still would be a record for Kong franchise. I am expecting it to become the biggest Kong opener and 2nd-3rd biggest Godzilla opener. It will be biggest opener worldwide for the monsterverse franchise. It will also break some records in Asia and Latin America. All in all biggest grosser ever worldwide for both Kong and Godzilla.
I am bullish, but whatever.

Next weekend GxK will break franchise records.

As long as these movies are fun and keep making money all is well. The day this formula tanks at the box-office, they can reboot with a gap of 5 years.

The one two punch of DUNE 2 and KFP4 is bad news for GxK, as both the films together cater same audience as that film.

This movie should be doing atleast 150M domestically and 450M overseas, but I think people for some reason aren't as excited. Let's see.

So monster verse franchise seems to be a front loaded one like the X-Men franchise. Those movies even with good wom always struggled on 2nd weekend.
