  1. Disney gets its estimates from the exact same sources as this forum. In fact, the Chinese insiders in this forum are probably better informed than anyone at Disney...
  2. You’re correct. It’s biggest day was opening day Friday and then continued to drop throughout OW. Still, that Friday will stand as biggest OD and biggest day ever. Today’s result for IW will be 2nd biggest day ever/Biggest Saturday.
  3. Friday’s (final) actuals came in at 386M, 445.44M ($70.2M) including midnights.
  4. Actuals about 7M lower than yesterday’s estimates according to several trackers: 猫眼, 艺恩, 时光 and 中国电影票房 all reporting around 444M ($70M) including midnights.
  5. This looks exactly like what I just posted above. I think this is how it’ll pan out.
  6. Another well-respected local tracking group predicting 490M for today, 1.28B for OW and 2.2B total. Makes some solid points for those who can’t read Chinese: today will likely be only day to outpace F8 before falling behind tomorrow and to a more significant degree next Monday-Thursday due to a more limited audience for sbh films than for FF films. https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/bSjs4DHHPp661hCGZAfWxA
  7. He gets his numbers from 电影票房...that is THE source for BO numbers and actuals rarely fluctuate drastically from that. EntGroup is often the least accurate. You can hope, but...
  8. Maoyan just released 492M ($77.5M) prediction for tmrw and dropped total forecast significantly to 2.34B ($368.7M). Their algorithms should be taken with a grain of salt but important to note they overshot today’s numbers just like here and readjusted.
  9. Seems to be more of a bane for films like this where every non-regular CBO follower thinks they can be an armchair quarterback.
  10. I’d argue that’s mostly due to it retaining more screens than most Hollywood films on its 2nd Friday...doesn’t have much to do with its reception. A lot of Hollywood films are cannibalized when the next big film comes out a weekend after it...that’s not the case here.
  11. This is actually quite common for propaganda films like The Founding Series, Hundred Regiments Offensive. Government bulk buys tons of tickets and requires work units to see the films. Very few walk-ups.
  12. Important to note, according to this Youtuber's profile, the video was taken in Beijing, a 1st tier international city where residents are probably exposed to diversity more than say a 5th tier city in Hubei. Basically this is the same as interviewing people in New York or LA about Call Me By Your Name vs. an audience in rural Mississippi. Also, the majority of interviewees look incredibly uncomfortable to be put on the spot, and Chinese people are notoriously reticent to express outright negative opinions in public.
  13. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it’s performing nearly identically to The Force Awakens. Hype is one thing but if you can’t land with the Chinese audience, good luck with the next installment. And FYI, not that it really matters, I’m an American and loved BP and SW. I’ve got no stake in this game.
  14. This. Exactly. BP is having a large opening thanks to the hype from America. Guests here — be proud. But don’t be so blind to admit this film is not striking a chord in China. That’s a fact at this point.
  15. Yo! You assholes are guests in the China box office forum. I know you’re new and all but here we keep conversations limited to discussions about the box office in China. It ain’t hard.
  16. That weekend is reserved for domestic releases in conjunction with the Labour Day Holiday. China's release will most likely remain May 4.
