  1. Can you post or DM links to articles or 贴吧's confirming this?
  2. There is no real parallel between Chinese New Year BO and any other time in any other territory. It’s like a weeklong supercharged holiday. Everyone is off of work and the entire family goes to the cinema. It also changes every year with the Lunar calendar so sometimes it falls as early as late January.
  3. They knew they had a massive stinker on hand...tried to get it out early for Valentine’s Day with 100k+ preview screenings today and seems to have paid off.
  4. Operation Red Sea isn't a typical CNY release...Chinese audiences often opt for more family friendly fare over the holiday...that said, it'll probably catch on a little later in the week vs. Monster Hunt 2 which will probably be fairly front-loaded.

  6. He means the daily total for all films that day could hit 1B.
  7. The longest gap I can recall was for Rush. It was released in China on12/11/15 more than 2 years after NA on 9/27/13. It didn’t do so well at the box office though, about ¥20M.
  8. Good ole SARFT or should I say SAPPRFT...did they stipulate what the punishment would be if distributors didn't follow the order?
  9. Wow...should be an interesting CNY with these measures in place and maybe this will start translating to other holidays as well. However, I remain skeptical since this seems to be a self-imposed restriction...what's the incentive for distributors to stay in line?
  10. 8 out of top 10 films today are imports...really packing them in before the holidays!
  11. The gross -- excluding ticketing fees -- is 101M including midnights.
  12. That's excluding online ticketing fees which go straight to third party ticketing apps and aren't included in WB's revenue share. If you're doing comps, you should use without ticketing fees since grosses for films released prior to 2017 are listed that way.
  13. Little known fact...the only film to ever receive an E CinemaScore? Mariah Carey’s Glitter.
  14. This’ll be an interesting litmus test for ya @POTUS Local observers are all predicting almost double what you’re seeing. Not sure they’re going off the same math or by what KM1 did, but still...
  15. A 2B+ movie with 6 straight days above 150M doesn’t seem so boring to me.
  16. It is still in theaters. Earned ¥1.22M yesterday, 68th day of release.
  17. Interesting BO stat: For the first time since they were released on the same day more than two months ago, THE FOUNDING OF AN ARMY will outgross* WOLF WARRIORS II today. *注水

  19. This is nothing new...also this seems to be related to television programs, not theatrical releases.
