  1. Will be curious to see these stats for 2017. Terrible year so far for animations apart from Boonie Bears during CNY...
  2. Definitely not. I'm seeing screenings every 20/30 mins for most Beijing theaters.
  3. It ran uncensored in China. Runtime difference is related to the trailer. https://m.douban.com/movie/subject/20451290/questions/746107?from=question_open
  4. Not much... Despicable Me 3 - 7/7 Legend of Wu Kong - 7/13 Once Upon a Time - 7/21
  5. Doubtful. HD rips have been up since March. Anyone who wanted to see it, already has.
  6. In other words The Founding of an Army is pretty likely to fudge its numbers...
  7. Local trackers were predicting around 600M all along...very hard to gauge just with pre-sales especially when there's a major release every weekend.
  8. Not sure where you're getting this info. Pirates had a holiday from Sunday to Tuesday. WW opened on a normal FSS. Yes, weekday holds this week may be a tad better, but WW held better on Monday than the overall market did. Again, no it didn't. Pirates first Monday was a holiday.
  9. Thursday Estimates Before Service Charges Pirates 5 - 49.46m / 799.29m Doraemon - 37.72m / 74.95m Dangal - 27.42m / 1.00171b (14th imported film, 1st non-hollywood to cross 1b yuan) Wonder Woman - 3.44m (midnights) / 5.86m (including Weds previews) After Service Charges Pirates 5 - 53m / 855.09m Doraemon - 41m / 81.49m Dangal - 29.8m / 1.08658b Wonder Woman - 3.7m / 6.2m
  10. Children's Day boost across the board, especially Doraemon. Daily box office 2x yesterday.
  11. Got several anticipated Chinese releases on subsequent Fridays in July.
  12. Yes, a master stroke by the world's smartest man and greatest living actor. A god among mere mortals Aamir Khan is...
  13. Market will need robust BO performance from mid-sized domestic films to see big growth. Domestic box office has been dismal this year and the one or two breakouts per month won't make up for that.
  14. This conversation seems more suited to a different forum. Very excited to welcome new Indian friends into the China forum but please try to stay on topic.
  15. Totally agree. Cute dogs make sense. Wrestling Indians...not so much.
  16. The majority of Chinese moviegoers don't know the difference between Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan, but perhaps with this film's success that will begin to change. Any movie with this kind of incredible run -- low first weekend, solid weekday holds, and a bigger second weekend -- achieves that feat because of its content/story first and foremost and its ability to 'speak' to the audience. The credit should go to the film itself, not solely Aamir Khan. Very few foreign stars, arguably NONE, have achieved box office success in China on star power alone.
  17. Furious 8 increased and Gotg2 on its way to increase as well
