    Unfortunately, I don't think so.

American Made opened much weaker than I expected $843k, 322k adm. (Jack Reacher 2, for example, opened $1.973m and finished at $3,043m).

Now, 2017's highest multiple was achieved by BATB, 2.69x. Even if American Made achieved that, it will only make 866k adm. And surely it will not get there, screen counts have dropped sharply.

As of last week, it stands at $1,513m, 577k adm, and I say it won't make much more.

Hmm a total of 2m (gross) on cards?

  2. Not my type of movie. I dont dig in war movies (few exceptions though).

Just because i didn't like it i cannot say it's Nolan's weakest in recent times.

War scenes looked real one thing which must be appreciated as nolan made sure its real and the cinematography needs special mention.

    5/10

  3. This was huge in India i still remember it was dubbed in several Indian Languages.

Later all the HP movies did well at the Indian BO. But yea the dubbed version fell but english version posted solid grosses to end up as a hit.

Philosophers Stone particularly did very well in 6 Metro cities of India i still remember an article which mentioned what the distributors said about its humongous run in these areas.

It's funny you say this because I thought differently about F8. Sure, you can argue how good a movie it was at the end of the day, but I walked put of the theatre appreciating the bit of range I saw from Vin Diesel. I appreciated how up close and personal that movie got for Dominic, and of course the action was a blast. Honestly, for me F7 was more of the same old than F8.

The one thing I HATED was the crew joining forces with Deckard Shaw. So predictable too. I wish that a badass antagonist could stay a badass antagonist.

Yea it was Dominic show all the way but for me it was more of hurried up with silly and senseless plot. I walked out of theater cursing the director and studio for spoiling my movie watching experience :D

FAST is basically about Over-the-Top action scenes but F8 was way too much for me. Sure i like stallone and action but i reached peaks some time back as i was a sucker for action movies. Now its all over. Movies like MI has OT action scenes but it kinda looks believable unlike this series. This is one reason.

Oh yes like you said whats with statham and his mother and then he teams up with Rock that spoiled the FUN.

  5. Japan admissions crossed 1m and gross is close to 14m similar to EoT. Should have done 20-25m but the WoM is insanely Toxic.

So the theatrical share could be like:

    Dom 80*0.55=44m

    OS (Excl-Chn) 237*0.40=94.8

    China 91*0.25= 22.75

So the theatrical share is 161.55M. Thats good considering it exceeded its net production budget of 125m.

I'd say this is far from so called BOMB which many people say.

Cruise is genuine draw even JR2 theatrical share comes around 70m (60M budget). With mediocre and crappy movies like these he's able to breakeven.

Suddenly, Universal moved the release of American Made, the new date is unknown, that's just less competence for It. Just 6 hours to go!

EDIT. Wasn't removed (American Made), it seems that UPI had issues with Cinepolis, so will be released only at Cinemex.

Will it affect the OW gross of AM?  Now its not releasing in Cinepolis will this eat away the gross?

  7. The Chinese audience lapped up MI4 as it was pretty much entertaining without any boring moments but MI5 had serious tone (too an extent) and may be thats the reason why it grossed less than expected.

    Nevertheless its Decent total.

Yea, i expected this to break records DOM and OS considering MI4 reception. But kinda surprising it declined domestically by 10% and stayed flat OS or increased by small margin if we consider its OS gross as 505m.

I seriously hope MI6 turns out to be a juggernaut in markets like China, Japan and South Korea. Especially Japan and SK, MI4 had more than 100m+ gross in these 2 markets whereas MI5 dropped by 20-30% grossing 80m+.

SEPTEMBER 08-10. THE CALM BEFORE THE CIRCUS. ANNABELLE HOLDS AT NO. 1 FOR 4TH (AND LAST) WEEKEND IN A ROW

As predicted, we saw a new lowest weekend in 2017, with strong releases coming we expect don't have anything similar for the rest of the year.

    Annabelle: Creation

    - First movie since Furious 7 to hold 4 weeks at #1 of the chart.

    - Next week will have a 65%+ drop. So $330-$335 looks like its final number

    - 2nd highest horror movie behind TC2.

    Atomic Blonde

    - Next week faces American Made $55M total at best

    Hazlo como Hombre

    - 50/50 of passing $200M. Videocine will do everything it needs to do it

    # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) TOTAL (USD) ADM. TOTAL ADM.
    1 Annabelle: Creation $20,12 -36,74% $321,7 $17,78 370,4K 6,81

    10 The Hitman's Bodyguard $4,7 -53,32% $47,1 $2,61 78K 980K

This weekend: IT, American Made, Made in Bangkok and Isla Calaca

Can AM gross 2-3M USD ow?

Even if the series has started to decline we are talking about 1.2 billion worldwide. How many movies will beat that this year?  2?

Commercially yes its a Strong Contender OS infact bigger than SH in some territories but critically i dont see F9 or F10 reaching the same heights of 5,6 and 7.

Fast series has a rare distinction of increasing WW in between i.e 5,6 and 7 actually set the base for its gargantuan success.

I jus stated my view on how the movie is turning out to be and without Paul there is Void which can never be filled by anyone.

  10. F8 has officially started the declining trend.

For me Fast 5,6,7 was pretty good and importantly entertaining!

But F8 was piece of shit apart from OTP action scenes (If you like it)  nothing great to brag about it!

F9 would be a better choice then Hobbs movie. I'd like this franchisee to end on a good note. Infact id say it reached peaks during F7 itself.

Im with Tyrese dont disappoint fast family by doing Hobbs movie now :D

Both are gonna bomb. AM's budget is at $80 million.

It's too early to declare AM as BOMB. Wait till Sept 29 to get an idea about its performance in USA. It might breakout Domestically considering its subject matter!

I think 80m is gross budget if u factor in rebates the budget might end up somewhere around 60m like JR.

Wont outgross The Mummy but based on this weekends drop it should easily do 5.5-6m.

It has held well this weekend as well infact it got closer to Girls Trip on Friday and Saturday and outgrossed it on Sunday.

As u say 5.5-6m in USD? decent stuff would end up grossing more than JR2!

The box office pro current prediction make sense to me (+/- 15%):

    http://pro.boxoffice.com/long-range-forecast-thor-ragnarok-bad-moms-christmas/

    9/29/2017 American Made $15,000,000   $50,500,000     Universal

Less... considering TC track record i hope the long range forecast increases as the release date gets closer!

20 m or north of it would look good for Cruise and Universal!

Nice, I completely forgot about that!

I've seen zero marketing for this movie where I am. From family I've talked to in Europe they've had zero marketing in Europe as well. All things considered it's doing very well.

So true the marketing done by Universal in OS is not upto the mark! I guess they are expecting USA to outgross OS???

Considering Cruise and his star power they could have done more to push this to OS audiences!

I wonder if a movie like Wolf of Wall Street which is kinda  similar to AM in terms of Genre Biographical-Crime-Black Comedy! can gross close to 270m OS but this one will barely gross half of it!
