Last weekend domestic estimate was underreported by 20%. If anything similar happens tomorrow, it might even end up increasing on last weekend since today's estimates show it only dropped 12% this weekend.

None of that translates to huge numbers since its on its last legs, but I think every bit helps.

There's no Mothers Day this weekend. Last weekend was underestimated so much due to Mothers Day having a greater effect. This weekend's Sunday drop of 32% seems reasonable. An increase of 20% from estimates like last weekend would require Sunday to make $1.46 million which would be an increase of 10% from yesterday which makes no sense.

  2. Zootopia is killing it! I think it could increase from yesterday as it is only 2pm and already has 2/3 of yesterday's gross. I think WOM is really starting to catch on with audiences.

  3. Zootopia down only 17% from last Friday. :) Expect the weekend drop to be a bit higher do to there being no Mothers Day this weekend. I expect a 19-21% drop to a $2.54-2.6 million weekend ($331.6m total). Next weekend could drop 50% against Angry Birds ($333.5m total), but hopefully it can stabilize afterwards (Alice 2 will either be an obstacle or helper). I think it can get to a $336-337 million total and beat Minions. I predicted $337 million back in December. Pretty cool if it gets there! :D

  4. They were WAY off with Zootopia on Sunday! Over half a million off! Looks like mothers flocked that movie more than analysts thought. Its weekend actual was up a whopping 20% from the estimate and the drop was just under 40% (-39.7%) which means its biggest weekend drop is back to being its 7th weekend (-43.2%) against The Jungle Book. Expect a huge drop today though.

  5. I think the total will be around $50 million for Zootopia (even though $40 million is realistic). I think $60 million is unlikely. Worldwide is at $956 million. If I was being optimistic, $8 million more domestic, $6 million more from OS-Japan and $23 million more from Japan should get it to $993 million which might prompt Disney to fudge it to $1 billion. Although, It's realistically looking at a $980-982 million total which Disney might just leave as is.

I really hope Angry Birds disappoints and Zootopia gets a successful expansion on Labour Day weekend. If that happens, we could be looking at $12 million more domestically ($333 million total pre-Labour day weekend, $336 million total post-LDW, $340 million total domestically). This would require $53 million from Japan which would be tough but it could happen which amazing holds post-GW (It already had a great hold of -32% this weekend off of last weekend's inflated figure and it would need to maintain regular 5-15% drops from here on)

No you are wrong, ZOO managed to have 4.3M from OS (except Japan) from 04/25 to 05/01, thats almost 3M for the weekend. Next weekend is holidays in Germany + Turkey still not open yet. It need only 50M total from Japan to hit 1B mark. It is doable for sure.

I didn't know Japan's Friday wasn't included and I actually considered it might not have been but I didn't want to disappoint myself so I figured Cap 3 affected the movie more than I thought and that it ended its run in some places. Sorry for my wrongness haha but almost $3 million for the weekend makes me happy to be wrong anyways

Zootopia continued to have an overseas presence this weekend with an estimated $8.3 million from 40 territories.  That brings the film’s overseas total to $607.9 million and global cume to a massive $931.4 million.  Domestically, Zootopia placed in sixth this weekend with an estimated $5.01 million and has grossed $323.52 million to date.

    How much is from Japan?

    $7.4 million. OS-Japan brought a discouraging $0.9 million.

    Zoo daily.

This week it has 10,5M OS, almost all from Japan. This means that Zoo's run outside USA and Japan is ended. WW total is 920 without Japan and in the best case scenario there are 20M more to come. So the Japanese gross to put in safe the billion is 60/65M.

A lot to ask from Japan. Would have to hold exceptionally after Golden Week. But then again, we should wait until actual roll in tomorrow.

How do you read the numbers on http://mimorin2014.blog.fc2.com/ ?

    最新デイリーランキング is only for today?
and which one do we take into account as the actual total tickets sold? 最新デイリーランキング or AEONを含む最新ランキング?

and how do we convert the number of tickets sold into box office gross?

I also don't know the difference so I post both haha  but I believe AEON is total admissions for the day. Oh and welcome to the forums! Good to have you ;)
