Finding Nemo holds the record for DVD only, the record for combined sales (DVD + BR + Digital) is held by Frozen. For my dear Nemo Lovers (and obviously for Frozen haters), this isn't because Frozen is more successful than FN: the reason is that many people have purchased more than one version of the movie, to watch it in different devices.

The international run of Jurassic World and Minions comes to an end and Frozen has still the biggest OS gross outside USA and China since 2011's HP 7.2 (and the 4th biggest ever). IO does better than Minions in 2nd weekend: 5,39M€ vs 4,84M€. It is down only 8% vs OW. Those are incredible numbers here. (For example Frozen did 6,11M€ in 2nd weekend, but was in Christmas Holidays and after a so-so OW)

Usually weekend in Italy is four days but IO opens on wed, so fri, sat and sun numbers in OW are deflated by this. However I heard WOM is incredible there for IO.

I heard a new crossover will be made: Minions VS Transformers: battle of s**t.

As Minions box office story teach us, the current cinema market and exchange rate make virtually impossible for any animated to beat Frozen worldwide, if at least they don't get 150/200M$ in China (or in another country outside USA). Look at this numbers: WW gross for macro-region (M$) Minions Frozen North America 335 400 -65 Europe 355 340 15 Asia 190 430 -240 Latin America 220 90 130 Rest of World 20 15 5 Total 1120 1275 -155 Despite Minions is exceptional in Latin America and very strong in NA and Europe, the difference in Asia is too large without a market of at least 200M$ (Japan or China).

It seems that Minions in China, even if isn't a flop in itself, could be a big disappointment for Universal, seeing the high expectations and the strength of the marketing. At the end, they can lose money there.

Awesome start for Inside Out: $7.1m OMG, the palliative care are working well. We still hope in a miracle.

I loved DM1 (which had a great story and lovely characters) and also DM2, despite the annoying little yellows, but Minions is a totally useless s**t, both for DM franchise that for itself (damn! and I wasted my internet connection to download it). It's only good (and very expensive) marketing. Frozen, instead, is first astounding, wonderful, lovable animation then, obviously, stellar marketing.

Great, now cinema is really died.

Minions seems like a runner who dominates throughout the race and then collapses in the last meters. Obviously Frozen wins.

Cinema in Italy is like a terminally ill

As usual you take the data and use them as you please. In fact if you look at the dollar figure you can see that the situation is quite different : 17M$ for Frozen vs $ 11M$ for DM2. This is because the DVD of DM2 was sold at hard discounted price during the release of the movie Minions. The same happened in the Blu-Ray chart. Average price in 2015 in USA Frozen DVD 19,90$ BD 24,90$ DM2 DVD 11,50$ BD 13,90$ Total units sold/gross in lifetime in USA Frozen BD 7,26M (top seller ever in USA) + DVD 11,95 = 19,21M (356,7M$) DM2 BD 5,81M + DVD 8,02 = 13,83M (237,4M$)
