Book had plenty of material, but the thing is it was like GORY material. They had to water it down a LOT to keep it at PG-13, and even then, they cut whole scenes out of the book. Looked a little silly on screen, seeing all those massacred people with no blood at all. (Is that a spoiler? I mean it's war so massacred people can't be a huge spoiler, right?)

I blame that on the director. In the book, it was clear that the reason she didn't want to participate is because after her entire district was bombed, she concluded that anything she does against the Capitol ends up with more people dying on her shoulders, just like in District 8. Peeta was one of the main ones she felt sorry for, though. I guess the script writers focused more on the Peeta aspect. Didn't like how they did the D8 scene either, the camera angle made it look like she crashed the plane into the hospital, plus in the book, she shot rounds of planes, not just one. Oh well.

Well, not necessarily "forever", but for a long time, yes. Audiences are tired of YA now. There's almost as much YA films as there are superhero films. The only truly successful YA franchises were the big 3. Box office shows that the YA trend is dissipating (i.e. Insurgent, Scorch Trials). Lord knows what the BO will be for 5th wave.

lol no. thg has set way too many records to be forgotten, and Katniss is extremely iconic. Especially compared to Bella. Tbh I don't imagine any other YA franchise making the numbers of the big 3 (HP, Twilight, and THG). I also find it funny how Twilight is supposedly "never to be seen or heard of again" but here we are talking about it. As bad as the films may be, Twilight broke records too, and is still pretty much beloved by a few people.
