Your opinion. I thought TFA was massively enjoyable, familiar, but enjoyable. I think in some ways that familiarity was what Star Wars needed after a lot of the SW audience felt disconnected by the prequels. It was a hell of a lot better than most of the blockbusters of 2015 imo. I would have thought the unoriginal side to it would have been more obvious in the west than in China, where A New Hope is a far less watched film by the general public.

to be honest, if one are not star wars fans, one would never know it's so unoriginal.....

Hollywood is losing so much in Latin America right now : with the falling ER in Brazil and Mexico, the collapse of the Venezuelan economy and its currency (the Bolivar lost 99% of its value against the USD!!) and the terrible argentinean economy (Argentine's currency lost 60% of its value) there are terrible headwinds for movies in USD there, some movies lost more than $50m in Latin America because of that..Captain America CW's global BO would be $70m-80m higher without that, that's consequential! Doctor Strange probably lost $45-50m.

i couldn't imaging how mass the latin america would be if ER be good

Slightly underwhelming Friday jump for R1... but still looking good for a 550M finish.

But what an year Disney has been having! Total box office receipts should hit $3B mark, if only just:

By 18th Dec, Disney's tally was 2700.5M according to BOM. By 29th Dec, R1, Moana and DS added another 259.6M, so the total became 2960.1M. Only 40M was needed for Fri+Sat.

Friday came in at 18M+/4M+/0.25M for the three films, so about 22.5M.

Saturday should come in at 15M/3M/0.2M = 18-18.5M

    Total 2016 gross = 3000.5M-3001M.

    That was close

Luckily rogue one released 2 days earlier than TFA, 2 more days of its gross counted into 2016

I'm not really sure that rogue one will be able to hold its screen into CNY, as 28/1 will be the CNY already, which means a lot of new local blockbuster that enter the market will squeeze the others out even rogue one has not finish its one-month screening
