everyone loved Avatar, it made $1.8b overseas without China but yeah this is going to come out the gates much hotter than Avatar and naturally have smaller legs.

we got a video game, comic book, theatre show and sequels are in production.. if you want to wait until 2020 to call it a franchise that's fine by me it doesn't really matter either way though

What do you have Avatar's total gross at by the way (dom/ww)? Avatar's opening weekend was $77m which was the highest for an original film ever and it was during a snowstorm.

actually maybe you're right as long as Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time I'm fine, pretty sure that one can hold out until dec 2020

heck they even get another turn next year with IW2... I always had a dream of the top spots being A5,A4,A3,A2,Avatar but it seems the tent-poles are catching up to Avatar so I'll have to settle for the 4 sequels being the top 4. To be honest the higher films like this go the more potential Avatar 2 has. In other words I don't think Avatar's worldwide can hold from none Avatar film until 2025

Honestly people don't seem to realise he could release a steaming turd as Avatar 2 (impossible by the way) and it would still gross gangbusters from name recognition of James Cameron and Avatar alone.

Although it would be a shame if Avatar's dom goes I care more about Titanic's 2.17b worldwide. It's pretty frustrating seeing everyone taking turns to take a shot at the king while he just sits back waiting.
