I never saw Eggers' previous film, knowing it wasn't for me. In fact, the mere trailer for that actually caused some things to happen to me psychologically, things that stuck with me for a long period of time- years, even.
But this project sounds like something I'd be interested in. And there's no doubt that Eggers is a great director. So whenever this film's release rolls around, I think I will want to consider giving it a try.
And another thing: when I read that Willem Dafoe was starring in this film that has to do with seafaring, this is what I was reminded of:

Not sure I'm sold, but I'm game for seeing Oyelowo act like Gosling in The Nice Guys.
I decided to take a look at his IMDb page, and Oyelowo is certainly an actor that has played a variety of roles in films with varying tones, so I think he'll be able to give a fine performance here.

Unfortunately Mirage's voice actress (Elizabeth Pena, who's a great actress), passed away a few years ago. If she does return, it'll likely only be in a small role.
That's very sad to hear. My thoughts are with her and her loved ones tonight. Thank you for letting me know of this.

It's worth noting the 2000 movie was just referred to as "The Grinch" in a lot of marketing, too, but technically had the full title in the opening of the movie itself. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a similar case for this movie.
I hope so...

One character I'd like to see in this film is the character Mirage from the first film; her actress isn't an announced voice character yet. But I totally understand if they decided to leave the character out. Her story was very tied to Syndrome's story, which was completed in the first film to my current knowledge.

Looks good. That spot gonna be the last promo thing I watched for this movie. Only seen the first teaser and this one, so I think I’m gonna go in very fairly unspoiled.
I’m excited.
That's similar to what I did for Logan, Wonder Woman, Blade Runner 2049, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi; and I think that really does work. I think I'll do the same.

It'll be a fairly entertaining sequel for sure. That's really the bare minimum that I am looking for in an Incredibles sequel.
Edit: I felt a lot of joy watching this on my second viewing. A lot of joy.

Tales from Earthsea, directed by Hayao Miyazaki's son, Goro Miyazaki, is largely considered to be the worst film of Studio Ghibli's body of work. Hayao famously walked out in the middle of the premiere to have a cigarette, explaining that it felt like he had been in there for three hours. But later on, Goro passed down a quote from his father that really sticks with me when I examine films such as The Miracle Season:
"It was honestly made, so it was good."
I feel like The Miracle Season, at least from the trailer, seems like a film that is honestly made. So if it's not the best film ever, that's fine. But I don't think it should be discredited just for being 'okay'.
I believe in this film and its ability to strike a chord with at least a few people if they ramp up their advertising around the time of release. I'm thinking it'll surpass $10 million at the box office.
-
So BoxOfficeMojo hasn't added this to their release schedule yet. But this trailer really is being played in front of a variety of films, which included stuff like The Last Jedi. So that gives me the impression that it's going wide.
The Miracle Season is a true-story film about a high school volleyball team that is forced to cope with the death of their star player. It is releasing on April 6th alongside Paramount's A Quiet Place, Universal's Blockers, and Entertainment Studios' Chappaquiddick.

One other thing that I'm disappointed about is the title of the film. It's just Dr. Seuss' The Grinch. It'd be a long title, but a better title, in my opinion, would've been the fuller one: Dr Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Because that's the story. That's the whole point.
But it's only a minor issue that I guess I'm willing to overlook.

Well, at least it still has a summer release date. Kinda.
If they think Equalizer is any sort of Cannibalizer, I really don't think this film is gonna be any good at all.

this movie looks so awful, is still trailer-stalking me, and got moved to September. i pray it bombs
Is it okay if I ask why you think the trailer looks awful? I personally get chills every time I see it- though I do admit that the part where the buffalo throw the main guy into the crevasse seems a little outlandish.

Amy Forsyth, Reign Edwards, and Bex Taylor-Klaus, whoever the hell these people are, join the cast.
They were likely casting them to add verisimilitude to the part, probably. I think many horror films intentionally cast these D-listers and unknowns so that the audiences view them as self-inserts, artificially making the story more engrossing.

This film is very fortunate that I Feel Pretty moved away from its weekend so that it has less direct genre competition. I think NBA fans and new fans of Howery & Haddish can make this a modest hit.

I'm going to say no. At least not for a long time. It's not a classic Disney film. There are other reasons, besides historical inaccuracies why it won't be made. It is very...of it's time.
But then again, Pete's Dragon wasn't a classic Disney film either. In fact, there's no chance the original film was more notable than Pocahontas.

I wasn't as enthralled by The Golden Circle, but I thought it had some very cool moments, and the friend who went with me to see it told me it was the best film ever. Placement on a list such as this is absolutely understandable.
I think #10 is The Shape of Water. I'm probably wrong. Somehow.

Moved up to April 27.
Might as well get the PR nightmare behind them quickly so the distributor's other releases aren't potentially damaged somehow.
Very few people will want to see this.

Denzel Washington still has a profitable fanbase, so I'm sure they'll still turn out for this. In fact, while July isn't too barren, August seemed worse to me with The Meg and Scarface and (potentially) Captive State. So this is pretty smart of them to put it in a slightly dry prime summer month.

Rated PG for thematic elements including some violence and suggestive material
The first film was for Thematic Elements, Brief Violence, and an Accident Scene.
The second film was simply rated PG for Thematic Elements.
So the rating overall has been pretty consistent throughout the series; though this film seems to have a touch more action than the last one, which is a good thing overall, because the last one really was a slog.

Well, something had to take Alita's spot after all. This seems like a film that could very well have been made on a smaller budget, so hopefully it can reap benefits in its summer release date. I am happy that it is adding a touch more variety to the summer, and I am happy for talented director Peter Berg (as in, happy he was able to make a small original action thriller).

I like this change. Now, the three faith-based films debuting in March have an even weekly distribution, so they aren't quite eating off of each other directly. This is also beneficial to those that are interested in faith based films, so they have more time to see the films they want to see in theaters. And the films that seem like the good ones (I Can Only Imagine and Paul, Apostle of Christ) are the ones debuting early enough as to where they can receive both a sizeable opening weekend and a sizeable Easter weekend boost apart from each other.
Hopefully this film and other faith based films will be able to benefit from what seems to be a dry March.

We can sort of tell from the style of the machine that they are still staying true to the tone period of the film; I mean, for continuity's sake, why wouldn't they; but that's still reassuring nonetheless.

I feel like the only person who actually liked Lion... But I'll be honest, most of the things I liked about it were because of the director, not necessarily the writers.
If this is any good, I'll root for it. I'm sure it at least has some merit even if it isn't great.
