Sing Street is a really good film though. It's a shame the odds are against it.

I am honestly going to fill out all the TV categories regardless... I know I haven't seen much, but I feel like some categories could use the help.

Unlike some other companies, Paramount has four major Oscar players in the pool; that's Fences, Arrival, Silence, and Florence Foster Jenkins. Surely some of their films are falling by the wayside in favor of other films, and if I had to guess, the runaway box office success of Fences, the approachable vibe of Silence, and the somewhat unexpected success at the Golden Globes for Florence Foster Jenkins are all eating into Silence's chances a little bit. Then again, Silence may have qualities that eat into Paramount's other films as well.
On a related note, I get why A24 has seemingly chosen to emphasize Moonlight in their campaigning efforts and leave their other films, such as 20th Century Women, with substantially less campaigning, but it's a shame nonetheless.

Wall-E should've won.
If there's any justice in the world Zootopi would atleast be nominated
I agree! The movies that did get a nomination were pretty good, but I think there is a reason why nobody remembers them, save for Slumdog Millionaire. Even I watched half of Benjamin Button before getting bored.
Wall-E and The Dark Knight were two of the best films of the year, and completely topple over a majority of 2008's Best Picture nominees. I support Wall-E for that year's Best Picture.

It's a shame the Best Scene award was left out this year, but I'm still hyped!

Yep, all blockbusters. Could be the only 4 movies someone sees.
I saw all of those movies this year! And I didn't see many films in 2016! XD
-
I would like to see Best Voice Performance categories split between Lead Voice Role and Supporting Voice Role.
And I think last time the Horror Genre wasn't included, maybe because only one film had anything remotely close to a chance in 2015. Even if I'm not a fan of the horror genre, that exclusion seemed off to me.
Besides those minor grievances, I think last year did it pretty well.
-
I am shocked at snubs for Hacksaw Ridge and Jackie, but I guess that's okay.
If A Man Called Ove got the Makeup nom as well as the foreign nom, that would be a good thing for that movie's sales, so here's hoping.
My picks:
Star Trek Beyond
Florence Foster Jenkins
A Man Called Ove

2016 has been an interesting year to say the least. When are we going to be able to send in nominations?
-
I disagree heavily about Rogue One's score not being up to snuff. The music in Rogue One did a very good job of being its own rather than leaning in towards the regular Star Wars themes, and the score often complemented many of the film's moments to great affect. Especially the Baze Malbus moment that I won't spoil.
-
The one that makes my mind race is the cast nomination for Captain Fantastic. They've chosen this over other films like 20th Century Women, Nocturnal Animals, Hell or High Water, etc. At the very least, we know Bleeker Street is focusing their campaign efforts on this film, so I just wonder what will come of it come Oscar time.
-
There are some moments in Rogue One that I feel guarantees it for a nomination.
-
I just wonder what the exclusion of Elle means for Isabelle Huppert's nomination chances.
-
I find it interesting that Sing Street itself got the comedy/musical nomination at the Golden Globes, but no songs got any noms.
-
The Golden Globes had some surprises in this category! Simon Helberg for Florence Foster Jenkins and Aaron Taylor Johnson for Nocturnal Animals!
-
I wonder how far Green Room can get with no campaigning from A24. It probably won't climb all the way up, but I think it might have jumped a few pegs higher amidst all the other 'no-chance' films.

My Life as a Zucchini beats out The Red Turtle for this award.
Well, that's legitimately interesting. This race is getting tighter; it'll be a photo finish.
-
Nocturnal Animals is performing very strong at the box office currently. It could end up just shy of 4 million in just over 1,000 theaters this weekend, which could give the studio more confidence to keep widening its release in the coming weeks. That could help it secure some noms, but I dunno about Best Picture.
-
I want Tower to be nominated for documentary.
-
When I saw Hell or High Water, I was impressed by all the performances, and I was puzzled when Ben Foster, even after the film came and went, wasn't speculated as much to get a nomination as Jeff Bridges. I believe both those actors deserve nominations, and I'm glad these awards people agree!

So, Aaron Taylor Johnson's chance at an Oscar nomination just rose a tad bit.
