Maybe.  I try not to be too cynical on this board, but in this case I dunno.  Might all depend on Gorsuch as he isn't the culture warrior that Alito has evolved into.  Don't have enough of a read on Barnett to say one way or the other.

I guess, my real stance is: We'll see.

It's just... I don't have much confidence when it comes to hot button MAGA cultural issues before this current court.

Being in Florida, I'm hearing on the radio support for Disney from the music stations when talking about this.

Also this won't hit Supreme Court for a bit and landscapes change. This kills DeSantis presidential hopes now which is what Disney really wants.

If we had a non-partisan, or hell even moderately partisan, Supreme Court, I might agree with you.  But the current court has basically declared Open Season for many (right wing) laws that even if it expressly is discriminatory in intent is still okay if a legal justification can be constructed after the fact.

I mean, it's always possible that Florida's lawmakers and DeSantis were so brazenly stupid that even this Supreme Court might have to balk at it:

But, then again, Trump was caught on tape numerous times about his rationale for his "Muslim Travel Ban" and that was still upheld, as have quite a few other right wing laws enacted by state legislatures.

We'll see, but the actions of this current court don't give me any real confidence that Disney will ultimately win this one.  The only saving grace for Disney might be if enough of the Supreme Court are still business-friendly enough to think this was a line too far.

Disney drags this out costs a lot of people a lot of money, and this just increases the odds of Republican Big Business types to separate from the Trump wing because now its them in the cross hairs.

Because fighting this could have disastrous affects for them in regards to Citizens United.

Someone tell the Russos that no one's going to watch The Gray Man 2 if they're all preoccupied with deepfake porn (and leave Marilyn Monroe alone)...

Were their opinions on the movie industry and filmmaking always this trash or is this strictly a post-MCU development?

Talk about insisting on pissing away any good will they stumbled into.

but Lilo & Stitch are still popular & nobody apart from Disney can make a film based on them. Ask Lucasfilm to make Stitch from the same magic they made Grogu & send it to cinemas. Just strange decisions all around.

Lilo and Stich is the wild one. They're still pumping out new Stitch Content. He's popular over seas. They're putting out a new book series for kids for him.

Why isn't this in theaters? This has NEVER been an unpopular property for them? Stitch hasn't waned in 20 years.

    I'm baffled by Disney here.

Doom is my favorite Marvel villian, But the MCU needs a cosmic  power level villian, and Doom is not that.

I think the disagreement comes two fold. One that MCU needs a cosmic level villain, and the other that Doom is incapable of being a Cosmic level threat.

The idea of Doom being a cosmic threat is more realistic than Osborn being an Avengers villain

anyone else just completely disregard the opinions of people without profile pics on here

Nah. I wait for a reason. Enough people with profile pics worth disregarding, and enough people without worth worth listening to for that to be a hard rule.
