  1. Not surprised by the huge Frozen numbers. I was just at the theater to pick up tickets (thanks @cdsacken for the link) and it felt like a weekend. Also it seems like the movie is less presales heavy now than it was for the weekend as around 12PM the evening shows were 10% full and when I just checked they were nearing sell outs.
  2. *coughs can you hook me up please coughs*
  3. That’s usually how it goes when someone is a fan of a director or actor. When a movie is a success the success is placed solely on that individual. When the movie isn’t a success, it’s suddenly everyone else’s fault but that individual. When the reality is that with film making you have to have different pieces of the puzzle come together to get a successful movie. All those pieces have to work in order for that to happen. A successful movie is never just the work of one individual. Just like a failed movie is never just one individual’s fault. Sure an individual could be contributing more to the success (or failure) of the film but it’s never just them. Not when there are so many people working behind the scenes.
  4. I wonder if he says the same thing had the movie been a box office success and was better received.
  5. I’m most interested in the international numbers at this point. I’ve heard Saturday has been huge in a lot of markets so it’ll be interesting where it lands after the weekend is over.
  6. Men didn’t go watch Charlie’s Angels. We were saving our money for the film of our time, Frozen 2. Gave it a $120M+ boost domestically and a $300M+ boost OS
  7. Yes but Twilight dropped a hefty amount in its second weekend which is not expected from Frozen 2 *for now* Twilight ended up playing more like a traditional film rather than a film actually benefiting from a holiday weekend (for its 3 day). If Frozen 2 ends up having a similar result then I agree with you. But if it ends up having a great drop next weekend then its a moot point.
  8. I set myself to be disappointed with personal expectations for Frozen 2's opening weekend but @narniadis is right. After the Thanksgiving weekend ends is when we should properly assess whether Frozen 2 exceeded expectations, met expectations or went below expectations. I mentioned it in the tracking thread several times about how Frozen 2 isn't just about this weekend but rather next weekend too. Typically movies being released have to play out like a sprint and make money asap but when a film opens up the way Frozen 2 has, it plays out more like a marathon because it benefits from having a holiday weekend (week actually). *Despite me knowing all of this, I will still post irrational things about Frozen 2's box office performance. But rest assured my meltdowns will NEVER top those that occurred when Deadpool 2 was released
  9. I wonder how BOM is doing traffic wise. I’d visit that site daily in the past. But the new design is tragic as hell and doesn’t give you the information that you’d actually want. Visited it once since the change and haven’t visited back since. On the other side of the coin, I wonder how big of an increase The-Numbers has seen in traffic. But the biggest question of all that I have to BOM is: was it worth it?
  10. Watched Frozen 2 a second time this morning and I loved it just as much as I loved it the first time I saw it. A shame the American public are failing at supporting the queens Anna and Elsa.
  11. This is the problem I saw Thursday night and the problem I am seeing tonight and tomorrow too. It's something I brought up in the tracking thread too. I just didn't feel like theater chains treated this like a $100M+ opener. Its showtime account, at least locally, did not see that much of a significant increase as release date got closer. So showtimes have sold out but new showtimes were not added (again locally). What I always questioned is where the demand for the movie is going to go? Obviously there is demand for the film. It remains to be seen if people couldn't get seats for this Saturday, would they just decide to go next Saturday instead for example thus driving up sales for the second weekend. *This is all an analysis locally from the 4 theaters that I tracked for the film.
