How the hell did this god awful looking movie get shortlisted for visual effects but Beautiful Ghosts didnt

This looks like shit. We’ve had a great couple weeks of great trailers and then we get this? I have to laugh.

Seeing some of these comments about "hype" and WW84 box office prospects would make someone who had no clue about Wonder Woman's box office success think the origin movie was a flop.

Wonder Woman made over $400M domestically and $800M WW despite the GP being put off by the DCEU and yet WW is not impactful and has no appeal? Im sorry but I have to laugh. The reality is that trailer views used to tell us somethings about the box office but because they are so easily manipulated now a days, large fan bases and nostalgia taking effect, they tell us very little. The only thing I’d argue is that original films don’t fall into this and YouTube views may predict interest. But I don’t think trailer views for franchise films are a relevant indicator of hype/box office. There have franchise films with high views that don’t show at the box office and franchise films with less than stellar views yet the film does really well at the box office.

Also in regards to trailer views whether on YouTube or on Twitter.....I’m always cautious with them predicting “hype” or comparing them to other movies now a days because it’s very easy to manipulate views of a trailer if you’re having it play as an ad before other videos on YouTube or you have it pinned as a “promoted” tweet on Twitter so it hops in people’s timelines. I have no idea whether WW is having that done for it or not BUT I notice some films do and some films don’t. *For example, I had BW pop up on my twitter timeline as a promoted tweet and it played as a scrolled by it. *Other films have that. I was just using BW as an example because it’s very recent.

Maybe I’m naive but I don’t see this opening less than $150M. The first Wonder Woman was loved by a lot of people so there will def be a rush factor to see this one. It’s legs however will be determined by its quality. I could see it missing $400M domestically if it’s not good but if it is and people love it then all bets are off. As long as the quality is there, I’m not sure what the reasoning for a decrease from the first would be. Especially with DC now being in the good graces of the GP.

Soundtrack hit #1 this week selling 80K. Its the first animated movie soundtrack to hit #1 since Frozen did it back in 2014 lol

Word on the street is that the CATs team actually got the call for it.

No. Not in the trailer at least. I’m expecting it to be explained in the film though (or at least I hope it is)

The greatest thing Zach Snyder bestowed upon us was giving us Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. All that suffering through the DCEU was worth it.

I absolutely loved that trailer. I loved the style and aesthetic of it. I loved the 80s music in the background. Also Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman: I need this movie and I need it right now.

For some reason I absolutely LOVE Wonder Woman in the new poster/the other poster with that theme. But those new ones just didn't do it for me. I'm not sure why. Either way #DropTheTrailer !!!!

Honestly I just said that and probably cursed it and it'll end up in-between But I think it'll either end up being Valerian 2.0 at the box office or do Ready Player One numbers.

After Detective Pikachu really fucking me up with its trailer views, I don't put too much stock into those anymore BUT considering Free Guy is an original concept, I figured I'd see how it was doing. It's official trailer released by Fox is currently #1 trending on YouTube with 3.9M views and 137K likes. On twitter between the free guy twitter page and Ryan's it has 6M views. Has about 5 more hours left before hitting 24 hours.

And that's what he should focus on. He's an amazing director.

Box office wise this will do really well or completely bomb. No in between imo It will all depend if it’s good or not. If it’s good, I can a see a breakout. Although I have to wait to see what the budget is before putting a number on what’s considered good and what’s not Id imagine a budget north of $100M. All depends how much north.
