Finally, phase 4 is ending soon with WF. Shittiest Marvel Phase to date and we can finally move on to phase 5 (WF looks great tho).
On a glimpse, phase 5 looks amazing and a phase that we deserve indeed. Hope it actually turns out much better than current phase. If yes, then MCU is back and going nowhere baby.
If not, then I'm depressed.

Thor L&T is clearly a comedic film but the best thing or the ones that work well for me are the serious and emotional elements. A lesson for the next one hopefully.

Godzilla 2014 is the best, like miles better than others. It’s super different. Slow buildup and reveal always makes me on the edge of the sea. It also succeeded on keeping that tempo and tensions throughout the film. Keep me wondering what kind, how big, how many Godzilla and monster are there. Plus it has the best cinematography, direction and most cool scenes. Not to mention the gloomy soundtrack and theme.

The end of Guardians. My most beloved franchise in MCU.
No matter how much or how big (like Avengers 5, F4, X-MEN or whatever) the installments they announce for the next slate at SDCC next weeks, This will always be my most upcoming anticipated movies.

Feels like China just trying to distance itself from USA culture at this point by banning some Hollywood movies for fun (and looking for any reasons whether it makes sense or not to justify it). Thanks to boiling situation between the two.

Think MCU will still be fine here. Mid DS2 still opened to over 2M admissions and Thor likewise will be close to 2M. The interests are still there. Just the quality for bigger total and legs is lacking. Hopefully in the near future, MCU can corrected themselves and consistently delivers entertaining products with good quality again. Maybe starting with BP2 (not holding too much hope given the first is also not well liked here) or GotG2. If not, then… Rough times ahead I guess to bring back the MCU brand excitement.

I think it actually makes sense actually. SK is never a big fan of Taika Thor. Ragnarok had bad reception here too probably cause too many jokes and most of them didn’t translate well/didn’t fit to the comedy taste of SK audiences. Ragnarok even cannot top the first DS here even tho it was opening bigger than it.
Now for L&T, I haven’t seen it but many says it doubles down the comedy of Ragnarok so yeah. Plus the middling reception, quality and paces that mirrors DS2 (which also didn’t have good legs) definitely doesn’t help at all.

Only hope for MCU to avoid full streak of middling reception movies in a year. Would be quite something if it manages to do it, the one with the most troubled bts and production drama turns out to have the best reception and quality. Not holding too much expectations tho.

Indonesia isn’t a strict country. There’s just very few movies that banned here. Usually the one with controversial matters to God (Noah) or some extreme movies. The most recent example is Lightyear but probably because it was animation and aimed for kids so it was banned. Other than that, It’s all good. Eternals, FB3, DS2, Thor, EEAAO and countless others are good here without any censor.
Edit: and also most of them are successful relative to their expectations with no hate at all. So yeah, we’re not that conservative and strict like ME.

Too much focus for the marketing team. They were marketing Ms Marvel before so Thor’s one was late (Even now they still have to market Ms Marvel cause it’s still running) and not long after Thor, they have to shift/divide the marketing focus to She-Hulk. So yeah, too much work and focus for them so Thor’s one is kinda meh, rush and like ‘at least I already marketed Thor’ kind of advertising. Different from Ragnarok when the focus was just it and they can focus the shit out of it with much time, heart and soul.
that’s why I think 7 movies+series (and even worse, they’re all connected) a year is content overload. Too much focus and rush will hurt the quality, create some diminishing returns/fatigue from audiences, meh VFX and weak marketing like reflected in this one.

Many reviews said that DS2 and Thor are too short and fast paced without really building a coherent plot and not enough character development. Think MCU should stick to around 2:15-2:30 hours length to maximize the plot and character introduction. Perfect time. Not too short and not too long (too slow paced) like Eternals.

Making unrelated loud noise + singing, standing with phone’s camera flash on in front of theater while a movie’s fucking playing + splashing, throwing beverages and making a mess is very disturbing other fellow audiences and absolutely breaking the ethics of watching movies at theaters. And we’re right to criticize or even kick their ass out from it. So yeah, we’re definitely not just ‘looking for an excuse’ here.

$80M second weekend of I2 didn’t hurt JWFK ($148M)
So now why would ($40-$50M) second weekend of Minions 2 hurt Thor opening????

Transformers imo won’t do big either OS. The last one only made $475M while Bumblebee $340M. Probably I’ll guess between $350-420M OS which is not “big” for me (Depends on what each of us perception of the word ‘big’ really). Flash, I had it at $250-300M. But I agree, the controversy will hurt this big time and who knows how much trouble Ezra will make in the next 12 months so yeah. I think Flash prediction is declining day by day. I predict between $150-$250M for now. While for ATSV I think it could do $300M given the amount of goodwill + the first kinda become a classic already.
