I hope this one hits a billion dollars again. The second despicable me came within a sneeze of a billion dollars and then minions and despicable me 3 made a billion. Pretty sure this one can get there as well.

Impossible, most of the markets post a lower opening day than the first + it won’t have China. But it still would be super profitable tho.

  2. Disney still haven’t put any MCU movies in December is a mind-boggling fact. It’s the biggest franchise, guaranteed to make bank, 4-quadrant appeals, definitely will take advantage of full Holiday with family. Just like what NWH did. And yet they never released one there.

On the other hand MCU’s primary date is early May (kickstart of summer), summer (June-July) and between February or November. The Summer one is great, February or November is okay if they want to do 3 films a year, but a May one is kinda bad. Summer holidays is kinda not started and the legs will cut short by the time holidays kick in with another summer blockbuster. I wonder why they never replace it with December date. Hopefully next year, Disney will try one. Either with Ant-Man or GotG 3.

what "super strong emotional element" did BP?

It felt like a phase 1 movie to me, and I enjoy it because of that

And wasnt guardians 2 suppossed to be the emotional one? guardians is the better movie simply because its more fun

Probably when T’challa lost the first duel and presumably dead + kill monger background villain story which is also emotional.

Yup I think GotG2 is definitely the emotional one with Yondu death and StarLord family issue. GotG does have some emotional moments but not as emotional as the second one.

Well thank fuck you're not, nor someone like you.

don’t know why you bold them but regarding that:

The CEO one of course just an imagination

But the LGBT one is true. It’s one of the factors that hurts recent MCU (or others) box office. Many countries still not open to LGBT and they always ban movies with them but thankfully they’re not that large to affect the gross so much. Like DS2 that lost $20M cause Middle East. But that’s just a tiny part of problem. $20M is nothing. The bigger one is the other factor that I wrote like no China, Russia or diminishing returns.

same as the content overload. Just this year we have 3 Movies + potentially 5 Disney+ series (MK, Ms Marvel, Shehulk, What if, whatever coming in Q4 maybe secret invasion????). That’s like 8 projects and Feige said they’ll all be connected. Like bruhhh. That’s overload and will make some audiences feel fatigue. Definitely will kill some interest there.

Batman hasn't been on hiatus much if at all,  even excluding the DCEU films, there was Joker and also The Lego Batman Movie.

Joker didn’t even show adult Batman or Batman in costume just child Batman with less than 3 minutes screen time maybe.
Lego Batman is animation so not too significant for the Batman itself. Sure, it’s a success but it’s a different ‘Batman’ not kinda like the superhero live action Batman that’s going around. And also, it ‘only’ made $312M but luckily the budget is only $80M.

I, too, would want my movie franchise that turns out 900M - 1B+ grossers on a regular basis three times a year to go on a 10 year hiatus.

Heyyy, I got that idea from you btw (JW needs 10 years hiatus). JW and MCU is now in the same declining mode so why not try the hiatus plan on the MCU too.

Hell will freeze over before they put the MCU on hiatus, it's not going to happen. Even WB doesn't let Batman rest for long.

WB made a mistake for that, they paid the price and Of course I don’t want Marvel to make the same mistake. They put Batman too soon just 4 years after TDKR in BvS then SS then JL and look what happened to those films. Just now in 2022 with The Batman (10 years after), they can revived the interest and put him in right direction again. So yeah, I think 10 years is the perfect time to build interest and avoiding fatigue.

  7. If Thor fails to make $1B, then it’s 5 out of 6 last MCU movies to not hit the Billie. Kinda shit streak there. Bringing the MCU average down further. :gold: I wished it could hit $1B average sometimes in the future after EG. But then, you know COVID happened and now Russia, China, LGBT + content overload with Disney+ series + diminishing returns etc… You could also argue that MCU is in serious decline now.

With the same problems still persist, If I was a Marvel CEO, I honestly think it’s better to and will delay everything after Thor and make MCU go on to hiatus for 10 years. Like build the anticipation and interest again, refresh the brand and wait til international markets getting better (less sensitive China to Marvel, Muslim Countries to LGBT and war over). Before back to a bang in 2032. Merchandise, series, games etc still working to remind people that MCU still exist and make them want the continuation. Just the movies that will go on halt.

  8. Approximately 2 weeks until the international rollout begins.

    For Reference:

    Thor : $268M overseas

    The Dark World: $438M

    Ragnarok : $538M

    worth for comps:

    MoM: $540M-$545M estimated end

Could this keep increasing from its predecessors and could this beat DS2???

    My prediction: $638M

Wait so the world cup, does that affect movies internationally? I imagine it has some sort of effect domestically but soccer isn't as widely watched here as much as the rest of the world.

Definitely. Football is gigantic in Asia, Europe, and South America. Summer tentpoles from 2018 felt some impact from WC especially in the Europe. This year’s WC is in December tho. And we’ll see for the first time how it’ll impact the winter movie season. Also it’ll be held in Asia: Qatar. And the time zone in Asia will be friendly. All football matches will start in evening and night time so probably expect the night and every evening shows to be somehow affected across Asia. While for Europe, it will be the matinee and past noon shows and for SA, it will be the morning shows most affected.

I want them to give this series a hiatus for at least 5 years or so and brainstorm good ideas how to go forward. My personal idea for it would be to not make another trilogy, but make standalone movies with new characters and contained storylines which is set in a world where dinosaurs are close to dominating the world again and humans are in danger of extinction. There are so many interesting storys, especially for adventure and thriller movies, you could come up with.

Well, I agree on that. Some hiatus and new storylines. Some cool story idea you got there. Definitely will get me hooked up but is still prefer mine tho hehehe. Btw I don't mind if it'll be a trilogy or just one-off movie. I just want to see epic battle from Jurassic in the big screen. Something this franchise still lack of I think.

  11. Hopefully the next Jurassic trilogy will go all out and give us a massive, epic global world war between Dino and Humans with the ending being the world in destruction, extinction of humans (cause they lost) and the return of the earth to Jurassic era.

What a story that will be!!! It will put every butt on the seat and like... Who says NO??!! Universal better realizes this and start developing that storyline.

I'm so done with Dino in the park, or being controlled and make the Dino weak and outsmarted compared to humans shenanigans. Need new fresh storylines.

If this movie somehow touches a Billion Dollar Gross from here, it'll be the greatest Box Office run of any Jurassic Movie.

I don't know how a movie can survive with so much negativity.

If Age of Extinction could survive and made over $1.1B with that kind of abominable reception then Dominion also could. Jurassic is millions more superior than Transformers franchise.
