  1. They can't reboot, no reason to. Wonder Woman sequel will be fine. Aquaman should be fine. I'm thinking Matt Reeves The Batman will be fine but they should go detective/small scale with it. Which I think Matt Reeves probably will. He'll do a more grounded story. Keep the budget under control. They can build it back up but no more team up movies for a while. I'm not sure they should go through with the Suicide Squad sequel. They are better off just doing to Harley Quinn solo.
  2. Here's some shit that blows my mind. LOGAN opened up to $88M. Fucking Logan. Yes, excellent movie and Wolverine's farewell but still. Justice League will barely crack Logan. Here's another one. X2. Opened to $85M. 14 fucking years ago. Here's another. X-Men: The Last Stand. A total piece of shit. Ratner is a complete hack. Damn near ruined the X-franchise. THAT movie opened to $102M 11 years ago. Justice League will open under X-Men: The Last Stand.
  3. BvS reception. Terrible reviews. Two directors. No buzz. Horrible marketing. Didn't finish CGI. It's almost as if they tried to see how low it could go..
  4. I don't understand the logic here. You said it made 1.5 because of Paul. If Paul is the reason then why would the very next film be assured of 1.2? The fact is the Fast series was trending upwards and quickly.. It gives the fans exactly what we want from it. Nothing more, nothing less.
  5. You can't be serious. People aren't flocking to theaters to see F8 because of the untimely death of Paul Walker. If you had said that prior to F7 then maybe but F8 made all the monies because it's a series that delivers on their promises.
  6. Well if you want to play that game there isn't a Spider-Man movie in the same universe as Furious 7. The only CBM above it is The Avengers by 2 million.. And these movies cost no more than $150M to produce. The run is legendary. No source material. No iconic characters. Just making up shit as they go. That's a success story.
  7. The Justice League hate posts and ripping of "fanboys" is nice and all but the bottom line is that WB made a fuck ton of money this year and off the DCEU. A movie like IT had production costs of $35M and went on to do $700M at the box office and every dumb motherfucker in the world wore a Pennywise costume. Just like every chick last year with Harley Quinn. So yes, WB should be congratulating themselves. They wipe their asses with 20s and light their blunts with hunds. Anyone "laughing" at WB is probably broke. What lie did I tell? Also, the term "fanboy"... listen, everyone who watches DC movies... they probably are also fans of Marvel. I know myself I grew up a fan of Batman. But also the X-Men. But also Green Lantern. But also The Hulk. etc. Congratulations... you played yourself.
  8. Yes of course that stuff felt a lot more like Winter Soldier. The airport scene was is just so cheesy to me now and too light hearted and Spider-Man shoehorned in. I don't like it.
  9. I'ma bit different than some of my friends I guess. I LOVED everything about Civil War expect the airport scene. That is their favorite scene by far, it's a scene that I thought was cool the first time I saw it and now I hate it. It doesn't fit with the rest of the tone of the movie IMO.
  10. No, I think Infinity War is still going to be HUUUUUGGGEE but there is some truth that comic book films have reached their peak. I don't see IW reaching the heights of The Avengers. Once Downey Jr. is gone that's going to create a big hole in their lineup too. No Marvel movie has surpassed a billion without Downey. Spider-Man didn't surpass a billion with him. I do think audiences are looking for something different. Thor at least looked different. Deadpool was different. Logan was different. Wonder Woman was different. There's only so many times you can "save the world" especially given how one dimensional all these villains are. I'd love to see a Batman film get back to being detective work, very grounded and low key within Gotham. Maybe just one villain. Small scale stuff.
  11. They could have easily just made a Justice League: War movie.. ripped it off scene by scene and everyone probably would have left happy. I actually thought that was what they were doing after the reception of BvS. I said "okay, they can just rip from the animated series with JL and it'll be fine.." Welp, they fucked that up too.
  12. He really only was allowed to finish one film, that being Man of Steel. They didn't like BvS and chopped it to hell. They are probably right that it would have still been lukewarm but they made it worse. Then they let Whedon change the oil and rotate the tires on Justice League. If they didn't have confidence in Snyder's vision then he should have been gone after BvS. there's no reason why they couldn't have delayed it. This isn't all on Snyder. It's not all on Whedon. It's mostly WB themselves.
  13. Man of Steel's reviews were A LOT better than this.. Batman vs. Superman suffered from studio tampering. The director's cut is pretty well received. If this was a Snyder only project I believe it would have gotten maybe more hate but also more love.
  14. Side note: this was the last movie of the year that I was invested in as far as box office goes. Star Wars result isn't that interesting to me. I know it's going to make a ton of money, it'll be a little lower than TFA and that's it. Nothing really shocking is on the table.
  15. Whedon really does deserve a lot of the blame though. His fingerprints are all over the film and critics SHIT ON IT. Which means they shit in part on Whedon.
  16. I realize that heads already rolled at Warner Bros. but I think if this number holds up then heads should roll again. This would be maybe not the biggest bomb but definitely the most disappointing box office result of the last twenty years.
