Word on the street is, its awful. Someone on these forums went to a test screening 3 months ago (they like everything) said it was near unwatchable not only though, but they also fired the director quietly like 3 months ago, he's not even over seeing the movie, its the studio.
Sucks if it's true. If it's coming from you, then it most likely is.
By the way, by "studio," do you mean Legendary or Universal?
The only reason I ask is because he tweeted this today:

My biggest problem with what I've seen is that the Jaegers lack *power.* They're too fast, too sleek, and too "animated."
I can tell that this one doesn't have Del Toro's touch, and that's why I'm just not as interested in this one as I was for the original almost five years ago.

They just advertised the date in the trailer, didn't they? Jesus, this is reminding me a lot of Rings.
Edit: No they did not. Either way, I'm still getting that feeling.

Everything about this movie is uninspiring. The trailer, the movie posters, the TV spots...blah, blah, blah.
The moment it was announced that Del Toro wouldn't have creative input, I knew this is how it would turn out.

That's a hell of a run.

The poster is cool enough and that teaser was funny. I expected for this to do something around 60-70m, but it might actually have a chance to be a decent sized hit. The humor seems to be Lego-esque so this might actually attract some adult viewers too.
Maybe 35/115/280m WW?
This movie isn't IT. It's not going to make anywhere near that amount domestically or worldwide. But it could make a nice chunk of change if this film has a micro budget...

Before late last year, I didn't know this show existed, and that people even hated it so much.
I don't care how this does, tbf. I'm not the target audience.

Would it be mean to ask: O/U Blair Witch (20.8m DOM)?
I am going to say over, because this is still something that I think a lot of teenagers and pre-teens will want to see. Blair Witch was a sequel to a relic of a film that had a very polarizing reception among general audiences.
Making over $20.8 million is going to be standard for this film, I think.

My guess is you have never seen Mothman Prophecies. If you had, you'd never say a bad word about it. It's frikkin fantastic.
I have and I also read the book, which the film has very little in common with. Even in the beginning of the 21st century, Sony's studios couldn't adapt material for shit.

This is going to be swamped by its competition. This probably would have been better off as a Winter or early Fall release.
But yeah, this trailer felt messy. I get the lore behind Slender Man, however this trailer just seemed to be a hodgepodge of images that don't make sense when stitched together. I understand at least some of it, though. To the general audience, however, I don't think will understand even that little hint of what's supposed to be happening.

Isn’t the popularity of Slender Man long gone? This feels waaaay to late and with Sony behind it we will probably get another The Bye Bye Man.
Hollywood is far behind on everything.
However, I'm not even expecting a good movie from this. Screen Gems is distributing, and they're responsible for such masterpieces as Resident Evil, The Mothman Prophecies, and Deliver Us from Evil.
True, we haven't seen the trailer, but expect a LOT of pretty camera angles, blurred imagery, and lens flare with the trailer when it doesn't belong. The poster foreshadows these aspects quite well.

I'll almost be 30 when this film comes out. But I'll be there if it looks fun.
D&D is something I played all the time with friends, some of whom aren't even around. I hope it does very well.

The tagline had me rolling for some reason, like they're trying to convince people that the character isn't going to be heavily modified to fit their animation style.
Of course, for all I know he could actually be a complete asshole by the end of the film. But for now he doesn't look very Grinch-like. Too cute.

I'm sold, and I'll be there on opening weekend.

VENOM film will be based on the "Lethal Protector" storyline, which heavily involved Spider-Man. How they're going to make this work remains to be seen...

Basically, Geostorm meets Jurassic Park?
.....I guess...

I think this experiment is going to backfire horribly. It makes me mad, because we should have gotten this:
-
A friend of mine was pissy because she took her kids to see it and was unaware of the 30 minute Frozen short that played before the film. She thought they were playing the wrong film, so she and a few other people apparently got mad and left, demanding their money back because of this. Then she found out the truth when she came home. Sounds like a mess.
Aside from this, reception I've seen has been positive. People hated the short, though.

Godzilla: Monster Planet spoiler.
The next Mechagodzilla is a fucking Bionicle. Unreal.

If this doesn't kick the shit out of Pacific Rim: Uprising's box office cume, I will be a sad panda.
It looks so fun.

I think the category is not appropriate for Get Out, but the people at the showing I attended laughed more at the film than anything.

I am seriousy disappointed in the size of the monsters. Was hoping that they will be much larger....I was hoping to see an ape way bigger than Kong in skull island. This appears smaller than that Kong.
To be fair, they weren't Godzilla-sized in the original Rampage. They climbed buildings to eat people and cause mayhem.

A new poster's been unveiled.

I didn't read his comment that way, and I completely agree with him.
Dare I say, this film shouldn't even exist. One thing to consider though is that Box Office Pro also had Kong: Skull Island opening at $40 million on its opening weekend with a $90 million domestic total around this time last year, and it made more than what their projections suggested on both fronts. However, that film had to benefit of good word of mouth and it had steady legs. Unless this film knocks it out of the park, I am not expecting a similar surprise from Uprising.
