This is going to be a hard sell for audiences, but I didn't dislike the trailer. If that means anything...

Solo had jack shit going against it in week 2 and still dropped 65%+, that’s not the kind of drop that suggests when a movie came out had anything to do with its floppage.
Solo had a lot of problems to begin with, so I agree. The director was replaced in the middle of production, more than half of the film had to be reshot, and the first trailer for that film was released in April. Studios can't do that these days and expect hype and awareness to build for a blockbuster. Doesn't matter if it's part of the Star Wars brand or not.

For people who didn't bother to read the article:
The final version of Will Smith’s Genie in his blue floating lamp form isn’t quite finished — the film is due in theaters on May 24, 2019 — but Ritchie gives EW a tease of what he’ll look like.
People are either overreacting, want this to tank, or are placing value on the EW cover alone. I'm personally excited for the movie and think it will be fine.
This wasn't a wise decision regardless, because they're essentially showing something that isn't finished.

He isn't wearing gloves. Why are his arms blue?
Is his face obscured because Paramount knows it sucks?

I don't see the problem with this film. I mean, yeah, I see that it has problems, but I went into the theater expecting a dumb yet fun movie.
I paid $5.75 and got a fucking dumb, yet fun movie.

I agree with others here. $600M seems like the ceiling for this.
I don't know if I'll see it only because I was never really attached to the original film and have only seen it a few times in my life, but I would hate to see this make Pete's Dragon numbers. Not that it should, since Dumbo is iconic.

I've heard so many bad things about this film, and the comments here really don't help.
This sounds like a misadventure, and just another film from Illumination that I will likely skip out on.

The Scare Diego clip was received very positively more than The Nun one.
I made that remark mostly because I'm bored with how many horror movies are handled in this decade, particularly those involving demons or ghosts.
Speaking of which, I didn't care for this trailer either. It just seemed too predictable.

36 degrees outside already. I'm not ready for this shit...

I want to say I'm excited, but with how The Conjuring spin off films have been, I would be lying.
But it will be a smash hit. I know that much.

Another horror actor?
Demián Bichir Joining Millie Bobby Brown in 'Godzilla vs. Kong'
QuoteHe will join Brown, Julian Dennison and Brian Tyree Henry as the leads in the creature feature, which will be directed by Adam Wingard.
Demián Bichir, currently starring in the spooky box office hit The Nun, is in talks to join Godzilla vs. Kong, Legendary and Warner Bros.' latest monster movie.

I think the portrayal of Genie will make or break this.
But I'm biased, because that's what's going to make or break this for me, as well as several other factors.

I need to see more before saying I'm interested in this or not.
This is literally the only Disney live action remake that I care about.

After seeing this, I'm convinced that Tom Hardy took this role just to have an excuse to act like a maniac.
The pre-MCU comparisons are spot on. I was entertained. Catwoman this film was not. But it is a bit like Ghost Rider with how it was handled.

I'm aware it's just a still and may not even be the final take for that moment, but I can't take Bill Hader's expression seriously in that photograph.

Is this like the Mothman Prophecies? Where it all ends in tragedy?
This will make The Mothman Prophecies look like a godly piece of fiction by comparison.

So was the original film......................
Now if you are talking about the quality of the songs, that is one of my concerns;the songs from the original are one hell of a tough act to follow.
I haven't seen the original since before elementary school, so I am not sure how I would react to the classic one now.
The original is a blur to me.

Jesus Christ. The point of Eggman is that he looks like an EGG with a bald head and a misaligned mustache.
Paramount can't get a damn thing right.

The trailer makes me want to see it but damn it! I know if I do I'll be disappointed because it's a musical.

I knew what I was getting when I went to see this. Fun film that had some off tempo humor that still managed to come full circle and work while retaining the action that the series is known for.
If you have nothing to do next Tuesday, this would be worth the $5.00.

The Nun
Park Place Stadium Cinemas (Charleston, WV) | September 6th, 2018 @ 7:05 PM
Attendance: 83 out of 150 Seats (55%)
Trailer
Venom - Some laughter, particularly during Venom's talk with the victim in the store.
A Star is Born - A person booed when the trailer ended, inciting some laughter. Otherwise they were silent. (Teenagers...)
Hunter Killer - No reactions.
Assassination Nation - Surprisingly, had people talking...until the movie started.
Fair crowd for what was a good sized room. A lot of the audience was comprised of teenagers and young adults, so of course they found it scary (I did not). Also, some dumb ass brought their kid to this and left early. What an idiot.

Potentially stupid question: If someone uses a gift card to buy a movie ticket, does it count towards BO cume or no?
Asking for a friend, and I didn't know where else to go.
-
Saw it. It's the same old shit, despite what friends who saw preview screenings hyped it up to be. It imitates everything that's already been seen in countless horror movies this decade.
There was a serious crowd though, most of which were comprised of teenagers who will find anything scary. If you've seen most of the films in The Conjuring series, you don't need to see this one. It's does nothing to stand out. Very tired and flat in atmosphere.
-
Saw it. There were 11 teenagers in the room aside from me. By the time the film was finished, only me and two (TWO) people, a young couple, were still in the theater.
We already knew it, but this film is going to have toxic word of mouth.
Now, the real question is: Can this outgross The Mothman Prophecies's worldwide cume? I doubt it.

Some people are saying it's fan art.
The thing that puzzles me the most is, why would they put such an image on a clapperboard and reveal it to the world? The movie is 17 months away.
