A little over a month? Oh no, it’s 3 weeks now
I thought it was releasing on August 24th. Wow.
This movie's as good as dead. Think it'll end up on a streaming service like Amazon Prime?
Edit: Nvm, there are people who ponder the same question at this point.

I keep forgetting that this movie is a thing. That's not a good sign with a little over a month before release.

$41 million on the high end, $33 million on the low end.

So let's say this film turns out to be a big hit, where do they go? Godzilla is already facing King Ghidorah, Rodan and Monthra in King of Monsters. They could go with Destoroyah for the third solo film and have him "kill" Godzilla. As far as Kong goes telling solo stories about him after Skull Island might be difficult.
Toho is talking about making more Godzilla films after 2020, so I suspect Godzilla vs. Kong will be the final installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse.

I thought Jurassic World was good, plain fun, but I thought this was a pretty weak follow up. I don't know how they screwed the pooch with this. I just don't.

I was expecting a very traditional musical, but I don't think this will be very traditional.
Interesting...

Exclusive: ‘DEADPOOL 2’s’ Julian Dennison Joins ‘GODZILLA VS KONG’
Julian Dennison has joined the cast of 2020’s Godzilla vs Kong. The 16-year old New Zealander recently starred as Firefist in Deadpool 2 and was first introduced to the masses as Ricky Baker in Taika Waititi’s 2016 film Hunt for the Wilderpeople. The film, which is also going by the title Apex, has been given the following log line from Legendary Pictures: “the Gigantic Kong meets the unstoppable Godzilla. The world watches to see which one becomes the king of all monsters.”

It's happening. Oh my god, it's happening. I also really like this pick.

Calling under Power Rangers DOM. This will probably still beat Power Rangers WW. Which is fucking hilarious.

This movie actually looks pretty decent. But I think it's going to bomb HARD. I have next to no knowledge of Kipling's actual books, so I can't say how this compares to that. But I will say that to most people, it will probably just look like a rip-off of Disney's remake from a couple years ago. And I KNOW that has been said about it countless times, but finally seeing some footage really makes it sink in. There's just not enough to differentiate the two, despite WB advertising how "dark" it is.
The books are amazing. You need to read them.

I'm more interested in this one than I was for the live-action remake a couple of years ago. Yeah, the creature effects could use some polishing, but I was a fan of Kipling's stories long before I saw the Disney animated film. I have a softer spot for those stories, which is why I hope this excels.

Too bad 'City on the Edge of Battle' looks to be a near carbon copy of the first film, box-office wise. I would have thought a better release date and increased exposure from the Netflix release of the prior film would have boosted it (at least a little!). Even with these smaller runs though, I'm sure they're more than making their money back what with Netflix reimbursing them ahead of time and the slew of new merchandising opportunities.
Not to mention, it's being distributed by Toho Video Division and not the main company. Their video division deals with smaller releases all the time anyway, so it was never going to have "amazing" numbers to begin with.

I think this will surprise people. I didn't think Rampage would be a breakout surprise like people predicted, but this? It has the potential to turn a lot of heads, and I think that will work in its favor.

Haven’t watched the trailer yet but without any major star this will likely be a niche movie regardless of quality. Hope it is budgeted responsibly
I would say that it probably should be. Budgets for the Predator series have always been relatively tame.
But this is also because the series has had moderate successes and isn't known for pulling blockbuster numbers.

I just now noticed that it was moved to September. Lol, this is going to tank hard.
-
I'm not so sure about this one anymore, and I'm not hopping on the train because this guy directed Iron Man 3.
It doesn't feel like a Predator film based on this first trailer. I could be misjudging it, but I have a feeling that I may be correct about this one.

I am so ready for the Nick Jr. Cinematic Universe to get started.

The synopsis for this film disappointed me very much. I can only imagine how I'm going to feel about the trailer for this.

For the record, this is one of the cutest concepts I think I've heard of in quite a long while.

Saw it. I need to see the trailer, but I am happy. Let's just put it that way.

Universal's making another movie based on DOOM. Couldn't just leave it alone, could they?
-
For fuck sake. I bet what they have in the film won't look anything like the dark web in real life, either.

Haven't seen this yet, but a friend was going to take her 11-year-old until someone told her the violence is as graphic as a hard-R horror film. Any opinions on that from someone that's seen it?
Whoever said that probably doesn't watch many movies beyond the PG rating. The violence isn't anywhere near that violent.

If you need to see at least one really fucking stupid film this year, Rampage is the one you need to see. I had so much fucking fun with this. More than I did with Pacific Rim: Uprising.

If this grosses more than $20 million on OW, I will be surprised.
More like $14 million.
