By TLM numbers I meant as $200M/$400M DOM/WW hits or to be frank, films over $150M DOM. If they marketed Smallfoot as a musical and arguably better, it would’ve easily done $100M DOM. Both Scooby and to a lesser extent Tom and Jerry have to face a battle of overexposure from DTV movies, the former also has a lot of live action movies too.

I wonder how Dragon 3 will perform with Lego 2 underperforming and the impressive preview numbers seem nice but it also face a 5 year wait and the TV show potential draining the brand. Shazam will be fine, as we’ll get a trailer with Captain Marvel as WB has figured that audiences pay the most attention, 6 weeks before the release date. They’ll probably pick up marketing in full speed after Captain Marvel opens. Though again Lego Movie 2 has me nervous for Pikachu due WB’s ineffectiveness and incompetence at selling family films. WAG needs serious help, outside of Space Jam 2 and Super Pets, nothing else can potential reach Lego Movie 1 numbers. It’s amazing that Disney’s biggest rival is doing the worst at animation and family films especially with it’s heritage.

@cayommagazine Endless Entertainment greenlights Diabolical, an original super-villain thriller movie from Justin Lin for Y6. You heard it folks, it’s good to be bad. Justin Lin (Star Trek: Beyond, Fast Five) to direct an upcoming supervillain movie. Diabolical is about Nathan Blaze (Michael B. Jordan), an all around family man, trying to support his wife and young children by secretly being the super villain known as Dynamo, who can control and redistribute energy. He is one of many villains in his home of Bludwig. Their number one adversary, beloved Miracle (Chris Pratt), the boy scout like alien with powers of super strength and flight who protects Earth from all threats while not killing. However, one day, Miracle returns from a space mission and has had a 180 in terms of personality which proves to be more popular, they’re also more violent, killing villains in cold blood. Dynamo, knowing something isnt right, must reunite his fellow supervillains when not only to investigate the change of Miracle but for their lives.

@cayommagazine @jordanpeele Smells Like School Spirit enters production today. @cayommagazine It seems that Taissa Farmiga (the Voltron franchise, The Scavenger Wars Part II, Kingdom of The Sun, Valkyries vs Galaxy) will have another franchise on her hands and be replacing her sister Vera Farmiga as the voice of Dana in The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. This was done mainly due to Taissa fitting Dana’s character better as well as test screenings.

In all honesty, if they waited to the spin-offs after the sequel and the sequel came out in say 2017/18, it may have pulled a Shrek 2/DM2. The spin-offs diluted the brand. I think it will benefit from lack of family movies in a while and a weak market. -
