  1. The Odyssey: Homecoming Despite some strong performances, and great action sequences, the edgier sequel is sadly the weakest in the trilogy. 7.1/10.0
  2. If possibly for bonus round requests can Can You Imagine? possibly get one.
  3. Darkness Dwells Deep Despite some strong 3D, the found footage horror film fails to break the mold too much, resulting in a generic horror flick. 3.7/10.0
  4. Frindle A well made but unextraordinary family film about what to do with a writing utensil. 6.7/10.0 Chuck Norris and Liam Nesson vs The Loch Ness Monster A very campy yet enjoyable B movie boosted by Norris and Nesson. 6.8/10.0
  5. Paradise Lost First things first, I am probably going to be a wee bit critical (I am somewhat of faith but tend to be the most critical of faith based movies) but the movie on this budget and scale should feel monumental, and I know it was a filler but imho it could’ve and should’ve had a lot of potential. Besides that it’s an alright film with dazzling visuals but has some very uncomfortable parts. I think it’s target audience will like it somewhat but my god this was a let down. 4.0/10.0 American Dragon: Darkness Rising A better sequel than the original American Dragon, more action, more heart and more Fu Dog. Found the Rose/Jake stuff better than the action though, but it’s very good sequel and I look forward to the ending of the trilogy. 7.7/10.0 Brave Pretty much the same as the original but an enjoyable ride nonetheless. Curious to see how this stacks up box office wise. 6.6/10.0
  6. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good movie but personally the ending, it didn’t sit right with me. I do think it’ll do fine box office wise though, it vs Midas for the May crown will be interesting.
  7. @cayommagazine According to an insider the main heroes have been revealed: Margot Robbie plays Perci, a neurotic, nervous yet loveable bilby Hugh Jackman plays Red, a tough as nails, unemotional kangaroo Geoffrey Rush plays Andrew, an old hedonistic cane frog Larrikins still is coming to theaters Y5.
  8. This is why I chose David Thewlis to be the baddie in my animated musical.
  9. As for Odyssey 3 tonight: @Rorschach you’ll get yours Sunday. BTW y’all got about 2 hours left on the riddle.
  10. Earthsong Volume 1: Haven’s Guard I need sometime to process my thoughts on this. This is an ambitious film to say the least, there’s a lot of world building done, mostly strongly, creative action set pieces, and likeable characters. However at the same time is how soon the film ends, like you’d think it’s the end of second act but it ends there leaving the film at a pretty unsatisfactory ending (then again if what I here about the source is true then I’d have to wait until the next film). Not to mention some of the exposition makes it a bit of a hassle. Overall it’s a decent experience but I can’t describe it, it’s like pineapple on pizza in film. I had fun though and hopefully the next films are better as the franchise has a lot of potential. Sorry if my review is not the best but I’m at a loss right now. 6.5/10.0
  11. April 3rd-5th Not the most boisterous weekend but Blankments’ Broadway Selects: Spongebob Squarepants will soak up a decent $3M-$5M over the weekend. Reviews are mixed at a 56 on Metacritic. Broadway Selects: Spongebob Squarepants: $3.5M/$11M (x3.14) April 10th-12th Easter is looking strong as Numerator Pictures tries to get in on the space opera game with hyped adaptation Mass Effect, tracking at $90M-$100M with a chance at $110M. With a strong 84 on Metacritic, it should be the king of spring and break the April record. Infinite’s Safari Trail is tracking at $5M-$8M which is decent and should play well at least until Earth Day. With a 50 on Metacritic it won’t leave to much of a mark. Mass Effect: $110M/$315M (x2.86) (With strong reviews and hype this will open big and have legs but I do suspect that even with mixed reviews, Gauntlet of Midas will hurt legs and Earthsong the week after hurts.) Safari Trail: $5M/$13.5M (x2.71) (With weaker reviews than Under The Sea it will only do about thanks to Earth Day) April 17th-19th Red Cresent’s Earth Day despite negative reviews (39 on MC) is tracking strongly at $25M. Endless’ Treasure Planet: Gauntlet of Midas Amazon Prime previews are looking around $2M-$4M Earth Day: $25M/$53M (x2.1) (this will crash and burn after Earth Day) GOM Amazon: $2.5M April 24th-26th Energized’ Our City: Growth, is looking a bit on the soft side, tracking at $50M-$60M due to mixed reviews (58 on Metacritic) as well as short timing. Our City: Growth: $55M/$190M (x3.45) (Yes although it opens a month after Can You Imagine, enthusiasm isn’t the highest and families have other options in May like Frindle and American Dragon and this reeks of a Kung Fu Panda 2 or Dragon 2)
  12. Now onto Earthsong and Odyssey 3 Also y’all have until midnight EST to guess there mystery film.
  13. Broadway Selects: Spongebob Squarepants I like Spongebob. I like musicals. I liked this. 6.8/10.0 Earth Day Animals Gone Wild: Volume 4 (also its cringey but also fun) 4.7/10.0
  14. Mass Effect If there’s two things that’ll always make money in CAYOM is huge sci-fi flicks and remakes of properties. There’s a lot of pressure on this one especially in the world that Voltron or Spark or Scavenger Wars owns (Odyssey doesn’t count as I’m just talking about sci-fi and I’d include Treasure Planet but looking at reviews unless it pulls a POTC I don’t think it’s valid anymore) What Mass Effect does to separate from the competition is to give it a Mission Impossible feel to it. Thankfully it doesn’t fall into the same trappings as Bioshock. All and all, Mass Effect is a great adaptation and I felt the second reread was better than the first, the action pieces are energized, world building is solid, the visuals are meant to be seen on the biggest screen possible, strong writing as usual for a Numbers flick, and likeable characters, I really found myself captivated with a few (could just be nostalgia but I mean Sherpard (who’s improved a bit from the preread imo) and Banes being the obvious standouts), and I also like the evil human vs alien supremacist struggles which shows that both sides are corrupt. However I had a few problems with this film, I didn’t necessarily care for Balak, I found the lesser antagonists, Haliat and Saccarino more convincing to watch then him, since all he did was plan and take orders and as likeable as most of the main characters are they could have left a stronger impression. I liked this movie a bunch, if I were to rank CAYOM big sci-fi blockbusters, it’d be in the upper tier however I felt it was the weakest out of Numbers big 3 of the first half of the year. Pillars of Eternity is the superior Numbers tentpole and I love Pokémon with a burning passion, and ROTR is as legitimately great. 8.5/10.0
  15. Surprised the two are so close for top spot.
  16. Going to be honest if anyone told me Blue and Gold would get better reviews than GOM, I’d be shocked.
  17. @cayommagazine Endless Entertainment has etched out a few dates for their upcoming Y5 films: Untitled Endless Animation Original - February 12th, Y5 Dragon Ball: The Red Ribbon Saga: April 9th, Y5 Barry Brookshire and The Case of the Soul Key: September 24th, Y5 Lost Earth: November 5th, Y5 The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: December 22nd Y5
