  1. I know Marvelites at the time were peeved off and some still grumble about it, but I loved that twist. It helps too that Kingsley is a hoot in that part. (Yes Kids, Marvel wanted to have their cake and eat it too with that short back in the day. They tend to do that, and they're good at it.)
  2. I mean Ant-Man was lensed by the Oscar winning DP of Titanic and it’s sequel lensed by Dante Spinotti. It’s less blaming directors and more the shop style (whether for practicality or consistency reasons, etc) though some directors somehow wring some concessions.
  3. Oh sure. It's clearly a R&D opportunity, testing fan waters to see which variants take off with fans. (That and perhaps King Kevin and gang just wanted to indulge themselves while Disney is footing the bill. God bless them.) The next two episodes benefit from not being condensed pseudo-remakes of MCU movies, with episode 3 having the sort of dark turns you'll never get in the proper MCU. Of the 3 aired so far (same ones shown to critics apparently) I would #2 is the best so far.
  4. Makes you wonder what a “Batman-Verse” live action version would’ve done if it was Keaton/Bale/Affleck/Pattinson?
  5. I suppose his fondness for DS the character played a big part since he knew what sort of movie King Kevin wants. Hell, what if Raimi comes back for DS3 where he’s allowed to indulge himself some more? That wouldn’t surprise me.
  6. Weird Sony maybe hurt themselves doing this and losing online coverage when the Internet is NWH nuts right now, but w/e. Hope this movie is indeed good.
  7. Indeed. This is why I’m fascinated by all this. Could King Kevin pull this off? Because if anybody could do what Sony failed at twice already, it’s him. Imagine if they somehow pull this off.
  8. Well since MCU is going multiverse happy which is affecting that whole universe, if you’re going to play that card for the Spidey IP then yeah it would make sense that characters/variants connected to him would show up. It’s like (just hypothetical) if DS2 featured the 70s TV movie version of that character showing up. That would make sense, right? (In that regard, the rumored DS2 cameos arguably reek even more of fan service than NWH but I digress.) Ultimately after many years online (including too much time in the mental gymnastics hellscape that is Star Wars discourse) lately I’ve realized there really is one difference between “good” or “bad” fan service: if you dig it.
  9. Reminds me back in the day when the Internet was convinced IM3 would be grimdark Nolan-y stuff because of that first trailer. (That’s even more hilarious in retrospect considering the movie we got.)
  10. “Interesting story” Why? I mean if we look at it objectively, one movie is a sequel which involves Dr Strange dealing with a stressed out young character who makes a poor not-thought out choice (which arguably they become conveniently dumb to make said plot turn happen) which breaks reality which is also an creative excuse to indulge in multiverse shenanigans and fan service galore. …and the other movie is NWH. Yes I know Raimi is a better director and DS2 has Wandavision going for it Yada yada and if I had to bet, I would assume DS2 will be the better movie. I just find it fascinating how people are viewing those two MCU joints covering some of the same ground.
