I do think WGA trying to shut down The View isn't going to work given they've been airing for months.

As long as what you are promoting has nothing to do with the studios SAG is on strike against it, you are free to promote is without breaking SAG rules.
Actors do seem have a lot of side hustles. Stanley Tucci was on Today promoting his range of cookware.

There's probably an overkill sentiment. Like there's only so much money you can throw at something and still attract the extra revenue to justify it.
Personally I'd appreciate if they gave Wall-E some attention. The only presence they have in WDW is a small playspace behind a gift shop at Epcot.
$60bn sounds like a lot but it's essentially means all six parks will be getting more investment per year and also include the cruise ships as well which has seen growth as well.
-
I find it strange that Disney's share price fell because they announced they're going to spend $60bn over 10 years on the parks. Given how much money the parks for Disney, it's a sensible strategy

It's weird that unscripted shows like DWTS and The View use WGA writers, just show how well unionised the entertainment industry is in the USA.

That's because we were still getting entertainment news via casting announcements and set pics and premieres. Now we're over two months into an ongoing almost total industry shutdown and the withdrawal is so much that folks are looking to play The Blame Game whenever and wherever possible, even if it has little to actually do with why the guilds are on strike.
Most of the actors on social media are a bunch of hypocrites anyway.

I think if there is another Poirot film, go for a known title. The ABC Murders would allow them to cast a name as Hastings as well as the murderer and Evil Under The Sun you can go for starry cast in a sunny location.

At least she cares about social pressure. But when there are people who are intently acting against the will of the writers that seems like the much bigger fish to fry to me. Honestly she's an easy target precisely because she has the much more sensitive public image.
I honestly think some of the pile on was a bit unnecessary and some of her peers need to perhaps think before they post their thoughts. Most were fine but some like Bradley Whitford for example just came across as nasty and almost threatening.

This whole Drew situation has been too much lmao. The backlash, her poorly worded response as to why the show "needed" to come back, the fallout from said response. Hopefully these talks between AMPTP and WGA go well this week cause I'm ready for this "finding an outlet to unleash our anger at" era of the strike to be over.
Honestly, I am getting tired of a lot of these people using social media and frankly a lot of them like Bradley Whitford need to stay off it.

She's not been cancelled and I suspect the whole thing will be forgotten within a year.

The actors have found ways to promote things without breaking SAG rules, I've seen Millie Bobbie Brown promote her novel on Today for example and Chris Meloni promoted a campaign he's doing.

It is weird, but it’s no different than Groff and Radcliffe agreeing to a three month extension for “Merrily We Roll Along” cause of the strike. They are both SAG and working until Equity for the musical.
WWE and its parent company aren't part of the AMPTP TBF although wrestling is in a that weird bubble that it's entirely scripted and performed but it's not considered acting.

I'm guessing WWE is not part of the WGA.

I admit going for a Christie novel that wasn't that well known or popular was an odd choice, I think Evil Under the Sun or The ABC Murders probably would done a bit better.

I seriously doubt that anyone ever thought these strikes would end with all these CEO’s getting punished. You’d have to be incredibly naive to think that.
Mark Ruffalo wanted Hollywood to collapse and be replaced which is naive at best and stupid at worse.

I've noticed that in the UK, the British shows commissioned by Netflix such as Who is Erin Carter have been allowed to promote their shows so I assume those are under British Equity contracts.
One things that the New York based shows can use actors doing Broadway shows as the SAG strike doesn't cover them since that's American Equity and they have the likes of Danny DeVito, Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff etc of course they can not appear out if solidarity but they're not forbidden. Eric McCormack was promoting The Cottage on GMA3 and Morning Joe and no one bat an eyelid.

This is why people piling on Drew Barrymore are looking stupid. Literally every daytime show is resuming.
-
I assume that Branagh has been given more liberties with A Haunting in Venice given it's based on a Christie novel that wasn't exactly a classic.
If Haunting is successful, I could see 20th green lighting another. Evil Under the Sun set say in Spain or Greece would be good.
-
Let's be real, you're not going to see every single CEO fired because of the WGA/SAG strike. In the case of Apple and even Disney, scripted content is only a fraction of their revenue

I'm curious what the actual reason was because there's like a 1% chance it was due to that.
I suspect it's probably for being disruptive, being in a TV audience means that you have to follow rules and if you break them, you're out!
The Talk is planning to resume production as well so I assume WGA has another show to picket.

Literally the only reason people are losing their minds over this Drew case is because she's still considered an actress first and foremost (and even was a certified movie star for a while) and has been seen as such for almost her entire life. You don't see such handwringing over The View because 1) the closest to a movie star among the hosts (Whoopi) has been a supporting/bit player on the acting side for eons and 2) the show is famous for its drama among the hosts too juicy to be scripted that often goes viral.
The same thing happened to Ellen during the last 2007 WGA strike when she explained that contractually she had to come in and do her show and WGA piled on her for doing.
Have to say, some of the fellow actors such as Bradley Whitford should think before posting on socials because some of the attacks towards Drew don't paint them to a good light.
-
Ken Jennings got piled on for hosting Jeopardy! even though he's well within his right to given it's on the same contract that Drew Barrymore is for her show.

Every time someone pulls some stupid shit like this, the strikes extend by another month or two.
No it doesn't...

TBH I imagine if Drew had simply said, contractually the show has to start up again then she wouldn't get as much stick from the WGA. SAG AFTRA hasn't criticised her decision nor will they blacklist because as Frances Fisher mentioned her contract is with Netcode who aren't on strike.

I've never watched Drew's show but surely being a daytime talkshow, it's not written in the sense like a late show. The View is still airing so why it is any different?
I suspect she herself can't say no otherwise she's in violation of her contract with CBS who could sue her. If Kelly Clarkson returns then we'll know it's for the same seasons.

Can't help but think DWTS being picketed by the WGA is not going to have the desired effect. If anything, it might pivot the producers to not have the sole WGA writer for future seasons.
