That’s strange, but they could also just be playing safe as sometimes it takes a couple of minutes for episodes to show up for everyone.

Yeah maybe just giving some leeway in case, I was happy to see it was up when I started watching about ten past since I went to have a shower. I did think it was strange they gave an actual time in an ad considering I don't recall doing that for Mando, but as long as we got it when everyone else did it's all good.

    Spoiler

I can't say I've seen a ton of old American sitcoms but I did love I Dream of Jeannie as a kid so I feel like that was enough of an education in order to get what they were doing here. It'd be interesting to see what people who haven't seen any of the shows they're referencing think. I have wondered what the wider appeal would be like since they focused on the older sitcoms the most in these two episodes, but I think they nailed it when it comes to that aspect, particularly the humour which is pretty different to now.

I feel like it'll become more accessible once they start to get into the other stuff we've seen in trailers and when they get into the "real world" of what's going on. For now the hints are intriguing and I almost don't want to look up all the references in case it spoils something for future plots.

You certainly can't say it isn't different to what the MCU's done before, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

I'm also amused at how many people I'm seeing commenting that they're watching all the credits in case there's another scene. I did watch to the end of the first episode myself because I like listening to the music but I figured since it was asking to skip to the next episode there was nothing there, but some people sat through both of them lol. Guess you gotta be careful though, I missed the scene at the end of S2 of Mando and didn't realise until I saw people talking about it on twitter.

Most of the original programming has launched at midnight PST so don’t think this will be any different.

Only occasion I can remember that was different was the Clone Wars finale (I think this was it) which launched on May the 4th in local time because I remember Australia and New Zealand getting it first.

I've seen ads yesterday and today saying 10pm for us which is 1am PST. Guess we'll find out in 15.

I really dislike how TV reviews only take into account a part of the episodes. As such, you never know with the reviews if the payoff to a season is good since no reviewers have seen it

Yeah, it seems incredibly pointless to me to rate a show on the first few episodes. What even is the point? If anything, serialised shows take longer to build so judging it on its first third is dumb.

I think $3m for the full run would be very good all things considered, but will likely be an uphill battle to get there.

    It made it!

Will be interesting to see how high it can go from here being that the first made $4.9M and this still has the rest of January for school holidays. Of course the time of year helps vs June but it's encouraging to see movies do well here and hopefully it translates to the rest of the world once things start going on that front again.

Due to daylight saving in USA.

If I'm correct in my understanding of the timezones, if anything this is the latest it would show and once we both start changing when it comes to daylight savings, it'd just make it earlier for me. In May for Loki midnight PST is 7pm here for example.

It is intriguing they gave a time at all though, I don't recall seeing an ad for Mando with that listed. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

  6. It'll be interesting to see when they release a first trailer for this, that'll give an indication of how seriously they'll be taking the July date. They've been pretty consistent with doing a first one 6 months before release, and that's this month, so let's see what happens there. Although I could see them being cagey on it as well, even if it did get released in it's currently set spot.

So in conclusion: who the fuck knows.

  7. I'm pretty much treating all release dates as maybes at the moment, except perhaps Eternals since they clearly want it in November and that seems like a kinda safe-ish bet at this point? (Famous last words.)

I could see them pushing Shang-Chi to Feb next year since that spot was its original one and maybe BW has to be pushed again. Particularly with DS having to halt filming, there's a serious lack of certainty going around so more shifts aren't out of the question imo. Vaccines being available now is obviously amazing, but people have to actually get them and that doesn't seem to be going great in the US currently, not to mention the new highly contagious strains complicating things even more.

Bet they're insanely happy they have the TV shows to pick up MCU slack and getting something new out there, if they didn't have anything on that front maybe they'd be more willing to push it to streaming. I am heartened by the commitment at this point for it to be theatrical though - since BW seems to be a one and done, and not part of an ongoing franchise I figured they'd be more willing to take a loss on it than keep holding back. That could change depending on what happens, but we'll just have to wait and see.

  8. You know, I had no intention of buying a Mando calendar, and then Danilo had a 2 for 1 sale on Black Friday and I couldn't resist. Bought both the Mando and the Grogu calendars (along with the Black Widow and Birds of Prey ones), and I'm happy I did. They really did have some great art for the show and now I get to stare at it for all of 2021. I'm glad they also included the one of Din holding his finger out to Grogu from the end of the first episode, that's still my absolute favourite piece and sums up what makes the show special for me. Really makes me wonder what's going to happen with S3 because the thought of them being separated hurts my heart.

Also the middle one isn't nearly as clear cut as it might seem at first blush.  But I won't comment on it further out of respect for those who have yet to see Rebels.  That, and the pic was somewhat darkly humorous so I didn't feel like stepping on the joke.

(didn't want to nitpick for once, either )

I probably will watch Rebels eventually, so thanks for that. ;)

I have seen people legit freaking out about the parallels and I'm like, it's been three seconds since he left, calm down and stop making me fear for things that probably won't happen. 😂 We only just did this with the "There won't be a Mando S3!" thing, I need a rest.

Yeah it is incredibly perplexing, its not like they weren't selling well either.

Exactly. Definitely something strange is going on, on this page https://www.eventcinemas.co.nz/Promotions/WonderWoman1984TOSN?fbclid=IwAR359ydX225eBZ6UKt3L0OWeRvgAwvSD3dSQP25kjL4Gsiw9KB6BCUiRQbs#cinemas=504,520,502,512,506,505 they have the screening still referred to in the yellow box and the one at the Embassy is still active.

This is gonna bug me, lol.

*Looks like the Queen Street IMAX session may have been removed I'll leave it there for the next day in case it reappears but its very strange.*

Umm wtf? Looks like they've removed the Mega screenings as I can't see them on the promotions page on the site, which is completely bizarre. I guess the only way to know what happened is if someone who had one booked mentions it somewhere or asking the Queen Street branch directly, but I'm seriously confused. It's legit two days away and they just went and cancelled them?

I’ve meticulously mapped out nearly everything about this sequence. One thing that I absolutely can’t understand is that since there is only one Kat during this entire chase/interrogation sequence, how can inverted Sator push her outside from the blue room to engage in the car chase and then in literally the next shot, Kat is sitting in the blue room keeled over from a bullet wound and checked on by Neil’s men. Please for the love of jeebus someone answer this question.

Kat being taken to the car is in her past, since from her POV she's brought from the car into the room, shot, and then left there. It gets confusing because we then switch to Sator's POV, but all of that happened in the past since we're going backwards when we follow him.

Someone reversed the scene from when Sator comes out of the turnstile, maybe it'll help:

  13. Looks like the presales for Newmarket are also doing well and they've added another 7pm preview. I always felt bad for that cinema, it was delayed from its early-December opening so it missed out on that sweet SW money, then it didn't open until literally a week before we went into lockdown. 🤣 I didn't keep an eye on it for Tenet screenings since I mainly focused on IMAX for that, but it's probably like, thank god we have something to show over the summer holidays. Talk about trying to launch a fancy new cinema at the worst possible time, it's almost impressive how terrible its opening circumstances were.

I just saw a reassuring meta commentary point on reddit (yes, even reddit can have good commentary at times )

If this really was a Marvel style post-credit scene, aren't those usually setting up different, if related, films, i.e. not sequels in the same series?

If this really is a Marvel style credit scene, then it could be pointing to a four or six episode miniseries/event series that ties in/partially overlaps Mando S3.  Say, the first four weeks of December and then start S3 of Mando on Christmas Day?

Not the biggest Marvel fan in the world, obviously, but I'll cling to this theory if only to help me sleep tonight.

That was what I was thinking tbh, I didn't even think anything else until I came into this thread. Fingers crossed the above is right, but

    Spoiler

my initial reaction was it coming after the next season of Mando? But I don't keep super up-to-date with what's coming when for the SW shows so maybe I'm mistaken? Hopefully they clarify relatively soon so people don't get disappointed for no reason.

Have also got the early showings for the Queen Street IMAX below and it’s doing very well.

Bonus: Queen Street Early Screening, 7 days before.

    Wednesday 23rd December

    7:00pm IMAX 230/454

Regarding the IMAX preview they've limited seats to that one, the first three rows have been blocked out, most likely due to the fact it's a Mega ticket screening with a funko pop. I had a look at it just after they'd done it and iirc there's 301 seats available.

Yeah. There were many comments like "It's not 2012 anymore" and stuff.

That's certainly interesting, I must hang around in different fandom circles compared to them since Loki's always been very popular. I'm personally looking forward to TFatWS the most but I always had Loki tagged as the biggest out of the first three MCU series announced.

I'm glad to see them finally tapping into his potential and it'll be good to see him without Thor for a change. There was a big push for him to get a movie for quite a while but I think this is even better.

  17. It'll definitely be interesting to see how it does, and at least we have a sort of comparison with Aquaman also releasing on Boxing Day. AM apparently made $6.1M in total, although I feel like there was an advantage with that being that it was a Polynesian lead so that was pretty appealing here. But at least we have something to go by for this time of year. The first WW made $4.9M so we'll see how this one goes.

I remember keeping an eye on Tenet sales in IMAX and it seemed to do really well despite the limits for the first few weeks so hopefully this follows suit. It's great to see another blockbuster finally here, I bet the theatres are dying for a big movie to take them through the summer holidays, especially since Soul is skipping cinemas (unfortunately).
