Legit, I thought it would get trashed by critics. But if it turns out that it's actually pretty good from a concept/trailer that could have gone so, so wrong, then they deserve something for their efforts.
it looks really sweet but there's also lots of family market competition that has actual built-in audience meaning they will prioritize those movies (Grinch, FB, Ralph). we'll see. As others pointed out, walk ups will decide.

This made me tear up for all the wrong reasons. Captive animals. That's so sad. It's a lovely trailer but yeah, captive animals, that's never a happy ending. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch this. But objectively speaking, this will make lots of money and get good reviews (well, at least "has a big heart" variety). Dumbo SFX looks exceptionally well. Colin Farrell Rises.

It's possible that comments were by fans of the show and people who expected more actiony movie based on bait and switch trailer than what they got (similar to how Drive was marketed as Fast&Furious 2.0 and ended up with bad WOM cause it was nothing like it). But unlike Drive this has awards buzz, so crowd that goes for prestige movies will close the gap opened by disappointed action fans, and significantly improve WOM.

I think that Widows will open better than IF. That one at least has arthouse/awards-caring crowd. What does IF have? It targets family movies and market is crowded with family stuff.

BK boxoffice is really good. 87.5M WW (48M dom) on 15M budget is great for any movie let alone one with a tough sell topic. Detroit cost 34M but made only 16.7M dom. No info about OS so likely wasn't released there.
