Good info. I mean I can understand those comments pre infinity war. I always had hope it would be good and it exceeded my expectations despite being depressing. Thankfully I went in assuming it would end on a brutal cliffhanger. I remember the crowd talking after, many were not pleased.
Went into Captain Marvel rejecting rhetoric and really liked it. Same with Aquaman.

It depends on its worldwide numbers. Maybe it can be saved by a $600M worldwide gross. Can it reach that though? Are there some huge markets left?
No, 500 is out of reach too. Maybe 400+? I'm not commenting on the quality. Could be great, haven't seen it, not my cup of tea.

I mean it's a 80 million, that's pretty terrible for a 170 million production budget. Leggy or not.

Lot of that will depend on US legs. Ends at 395 makes it tough. Ends at 430, way easier. Still seems like a huge range for the actual finish.

Not to sidetrack but I think it's a fair distinction to mention that Civil War gave a very strong introduction to Black Panther way before the solo movie. So much of his story, his motivations, his emotional state, his technology, his power, and other similar things were revealed in Civil War. Captain Marvel had absolutely nothing without the benefit of a visionary director as well. Mind you Black Panther is my favorite film, including over all 3 Avengers films. I've seen it a dozen times, I've watched the others no more 3/4 times I believe most twice (Theaters and at home to compare). That applies to all of them except the original Avengers. Seen that the second most.
Back to the 70 million train. I very much want to be wrong about 69,069,069 for all the right reasons. Come on big jump!

Can I question this statement? You do know that if we get to let's say $760m that would mean $310m through monday - sunday and you expect it to drop only 23% next week. You have to know thats just wishfull thinking.
Let's say it gets $780m (optimistic) by Sunday that would mean $330m and we would need $220m a 33.4% drop still not doable.
We would need $800m after sunday to have a shot at 1B next weekend. That would mean $350m this week and $200m next week for a drop of about 43% (this would still be a hard drop but the only reasonable drop in this summary).
Still it won't get to $800m this weekend and 1B next weekend is probably impossible.
I don't necessarily see it happening quickly myself but I'd imagine after this week, it has 140-150 million to go roughly in the US and another 20+ in China. I think it definitely clears 1 billion with ease because as we approach April 26th more and more people will see this movie. Either 1st time simply to get caught up before End Game or perhaps those like myself who want to rewatch as a refresher. The unique timing of Captain Marvel's run ending exactly when End Game starts was perfect. Pragmatically those who choose to allocate funds carefully to films either for budgetary constraints (me right now) or strict rewatching policies (me in the USA) clearly have a good reason to alter their normal behavior.

So, second weekend about -54%?
69 is 55% drop
75 is 51% drop. Rough math, prob in between that.

I think at this point you could release
Fartman, The Windmaster
and it would open to at least 100m.
I'd go see it. My natural ability as a super power? Sign me up

Another End Game trailer will pop up on 21st or 28th and make people go again to the theater. I think the legs are going to be much better than anticipated. If 75 if this week I will go 425. If 70 I will say 410

Yeah Friday through Sunday. Would be pretty good considering monstrous drops after Friday last week.

Nice I was hoping for 40/80/70
40/78/68 would be 27.7 million USD I think

1.15 billion WW. Obviously a flop, otherwise 1.2 imo. (Sarcastic)

Don't think it can go better than this.
That was considered impossible a couple days ago.
51% drop would be insanely good and probably lock 425+

Screen shot of First Man bad CGI ?
I haven't seen it 😞. For shame I know. My movie rate plummeted when I moved to a different country with no support system. I see like 95% less movies than I did in America.

Jeez that's impressive I figured you were in late 20s. I'm 34 granted I feel 54. My 4 year old ages me greatly. 2 years as a stay at home dad feel like 2 decades, in a good way.

All movies have bad CGI. I suspect it will be horrible somewhat in Shazam. Aquaman had some horrendous bits mixed in with overall awesome effects IMO of course.
I mean sure Avatar was really good for when it came out but sweet christmas how long did it take to render?

Nope. This is my way so that I will be notified of new posts for this thread. I detect some hostility in that final line of your comment. Am I wrong? Or is that supposed to be some kind of jokey question?
Honestly it was confusing for me too. I appreciate the explanation and it makes perfect sense. Is there a way to tag a thread for notifications without doing so?

So much for a big weekend drop for CM. Looking good. Looking really good.
It's all a conspiracy!
I hope both Shazam and Captain Marvel both do awesome. Many will complain but perhaps less. Good movies for all means less complaining.

What sort of legs do you guys think Endgame will have? It seems like Detective Pikachu releasing a week later might destroy Endgame's legs.
I mean it doesn't really need good legs in china. Infinity War was super depressing (watched it again still pissed off even though I expected it) and it did 375 million. I bet it does 375+ million even with bad legs with a massive opening
Really curious to see what POTUS2020 and Charlie think.

Where this will end WW?
Personally I'm of the belief this will do over Aquaman say 1.15 billion.
Reason being is I think the legs are going to be better than people expected after the initial steep falloffs from a front loaded first weekend. That was completely without the benefit of the new trailer with CM and I suspect there will be another trailer that is going to be released again on either March 21st or March 28th (probably the latter). With the late April release of End Game it will encourage people to see it who don't even have much interest just to prepare and encourage those who did like it like me to see it again.
Like Domestic 440 million domestic, 160 million china and 550 OS-china.

DC did absolutely nothing for diversity for a long time. Diversity for a very mediocre film in Suicide Squad wasn't a good thing. Black Panther helped, that one hurt.
