The wom is similar to spider-man: homecoming. We can see what SM 2 does - BP 2 will drop a similar percentage or gross about the same amount as SM 2 in China. Spider man needed China more than black panther did. Im not too worried. It seems to be doing well internationally in most markets and the week-to-week holds in these markets show that there must be people going for multiple viewings.
Guardians 2 had a 9.0+ rating and it had terrible drops. It isn't just WOM, if the Marvel movies don't connect to a larger audience and play only to their fanbase it causes huge drops/bad multi.
If only Marvel/CBM fans will show up to Spiderman: Homecoming sequel it'll top $100m again.

I think the estimated weekend drop for Red Sparrow is too severe. Friday it did the same number as American Made and that made 8.4M second weekend.
I didn’t expect the Friday bump is so weak, I think it’s under 100%..
edit: 82.6%

I think they are still off on the Wrinkle number. I am guessing it will come in closer to $10.3m for Friday

3.0-3.1m gives a $10m plus weekend, unless the saturday bump is minimal.

I’ll go see A Wrinkle in time if Red Sparrow reaches $11m.

Very strong opening OS for RS:
Fox is offering a comp to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, an older film with better known source material, but a lesser known star. Red Sparrow is 28.3% above that movie at open, in the same markets and at today’s exchange rates.
Taiwan gave over to the Sparrow with $2.4M including Fox’s 5th biggest opening day of all time. Germany was the lead launch at $2.6M for No. 2 and 15% above The Bourne Legacy. The UK came in next at $2.58M and No. 2, although harsh weather was a factor. Spain had a good $2M start on 404 screens at No. 1.
I think it should do close to 150M OS
Yep..I hope it has good holds, the weather in Europe was pretty brutal this week/weekend.

Lawrence’s performance in Winter’s Bone has yet to be topped by anyone of her generation.

$20m for RS would have been a save the face, under it’s just bad, sadly

These scores could be legitimate, but I know Trump supporters are targeting Red Sparrow and building up Death Wish - and were before either came out. RT has no proof any of their voters have seen these movies, it isn't like fandango where at least you have to have bought a ticket.
Everyone at my screening seemed to really enjoy it, and the manager was discussing putting it in a bigger theater as I left, due to the full house in the early afternoon on Friday. I'm thinking real life word of mouth is going to be pretty good.
Yeah...can't they just let people rate the movie when it comes out. I know it isn't essential but is still annoying.

From BOM:
Fox's Red Sparrow brought in $1.2 million from Thursday night previews last night. While preview screenings don't necessarily foreshadow a film's overall weekend performance, this could be an early indication of an opening that falls below expectation as it is shy of both the $1.8 million Ghost in the Shellbrought in before opening with $18.7 million and the $1.52 million for Atomic Blonde ahead of its $18.3 million debut.
MGM's Death Wish kicked off its opening weekend with $650,000 from Thursday 7 PM previews from ~2,250 screens. Again using comparisons from our preview below, this is slightly behind the $775k for The Foreigner, the $915k for American Assassin and the $870k for John Wick.
Ghost in the shell was uber frontloaded...(it had worse legs than mother!) and Atomic Blonde was a summer release. Next.

How is The Girl on train comp?

The trolls targeting Red Sparrow are giving this movie 5/5 stars on flickster...just sad, how long before the rating system gets shutdown.

This looks like it's going to perform as bad at the boxoffice as Lawrence has acted in her last 4 movies.
Her acting in Joy, mother and Red Sparrow got raves...
