  1. 76% now. The staff at RT will be keeping the certified fresh away from this one for a long time I feel, lmao. It does seem like it'll eventually get it, but it might first have to conclude its run still at 75% or above.
  2. I really have not stopped seeing this film appear on my timeline constantly after it came out. Even when it seems like hardly anyone knew it was coming out, Wan still makes a sizeable impact on the film world in a way that's very rare these days. The dude does not miss.
  3. 78% now. This thing is going on a really impressive fresh streak, 19 fresh out of the last 20 reviews. Quite unusual for something that looked so mixed at the start.
  4. lmao 76% now and the average has gone up to 6.3, would be funny if it ended up certified fresh.
  5. 73% with 51, it's holding up stronger than Conjuring 3, fresh looking increasingly more likely - but you never know with something like this lmao.
  6. For every rotten it gets, it does a good job so far of fighting itself back up to 70-73% lol.
  7. Ah yeah, hugely fucking audacious go-for-broke, swing for the fences, and unique piece of filmmaking that worships at the altar of sadistic camp. Like several Wan films the script is lacking at many points, but like every Wan film, he is easily the best and most exciting part about it. This fucking thing moves along like any other film, and then suddenly James Wan pulls off a shot that I cannot imagine how much effort they must've put in to pull off, and then after a while it's just madness.
  8. Up to 71% now, holding on well with some more high scores. A very rare rotten 3/5 from Guardian stopped it from going even higher as of now (Of the last circa 120 films Guardian has given a 3/5 to, the only other one to be rotten on RT is Jazz on a Summer's Day, coincidentally its only rotten review to date).
  9. Worth mentioning that of the 17 reviews with ratings so far, nearly half of them are 8/10 or above. The fresh ratings are leaning heavily towards really liking it.
  10. Flirted for a bit with rotten, now back up to 64%, with several fresh reviews still to be added. It's not completely clear where it'll end up yet.
  11. 5 days to go, including a weekend where no progress will be made, and still not a word when the theater will open.
  12. MetaCritic is gonna be an impossible task for this film. Quickly opened to 36/100, can't see it ending up anywhere above 50.
  13. I recall hearing mixed things about the score (from the reactions way ahead of the embargo lifting, that is), so interesting to hear it might actually be really good.
  14. I had a hunch I would find it in the 60s. 65% right now, it'll have a very enjoyable time fighting to keep itself fresh, but the important thing is it very much seems like more or less the "right" people are really digging it. I very much thought the same thing about that THR quote. Obviously can't comment on it in relation to this film just yet, but part of James Wan's most admirable strength is his total commitment to take the goofy material seriously, and not feel like he has to look down on it and wink at the audience. It's something that's brutally missing in a lot of films these days, and I always love when Wan is able to embrace it like that. He's completely sincere and that's wonderful. I'm very much ready for tonight.
  15. It's aallriiiight, I would prefer something closer to The Prestige, but I know that's foolish to think with Nolan these days.
  16. I definitely won't be able to be around when the embargo drops if it actually is 1AM EST, but will have a blast catching up when I wake up.
  17. Now a third review, embargo should lift at some point tonight.
