And remember, she's not just the star of the movie - the whole thing is her baby. She pitched it, co-produced it, insisted on a female director and even had a hand in the writing. So while she may outwardly shrug it off and giggle her way to the next paycheck and puff piece, behind the scenes this failure must surely be a big blow to Robbie Inc.

Man of Steel is the best comic book movie of modern cinema, Joker aside.
I'd agree with this if not for the ending. A follow up scene showing Clark agonising over Zod's death, and then a sequence showing him help rebuild Metropolis would have made it perfect in my book.

A straight Harley Quinn film that didn’t bastardise Birds Of Prey might well have been a better pitch.
Except Robbie specifically pitched a "Harley and her Girl Squad kick ass!!!" project to WB.

Margot is not a star OS.
Despite the insane hype, so many of today's "stars" are simply nowhere near as popular as they or their acolytes think they are.

Can't wait for this. The trailer was one of the best I've ever seen, just really well put together.

My three favourite comic book movies of all time (Spider-Man 2, Speed Racer, and Josie and the Pussycats) are really campy films but I love them because they are incredibly endearing and have something interesting to say. Considering that Jenkins had something interesting to say with the first film which was also endearing, I have a hard time seeing that this film doesn't have both those qualities.
Hang on - Spider-Man 2 was campy?

Yes, I love possums!

I have high hopes for this. I'm a big fan of the first film - I saw it 3 times in theatres, and that's unheard of for me - but I'm the first to admit that it suffered from some technical deficiencies. If they've addressed those, then I think WW84 is going to be amazing.

Even though I’m not the biggest fan of the CW shows, Arrow does at least deserve credit for making live action superhero shows popular again.
Smallville can take the credit for that.

After BvS, Aquaman and Jokers box office runs nothing will surprise me ever again with regards to comic book movies.
What was so surprising about Aquaman's box office performance? The dreaded DC brand aside, it was a rip-roaring superhero action flick, with a great cast and extraordinary effects, directed by one of the best in the biz.

You mean audiences aren't flocking to see the latest from renowned action auteur Elizabeth Banks?? 😲

Since they already have writers rooms and showrunners, it sounds like all of the Disney+ shows after Falcon and Winter Soldier will arrive in 2021. So from Shang-Chi to She-Hulk that means the MCU will have 63 releases in 2021. The Scorsese Stan Outrage crew will be mad all year. 😎
Nah, we'll just ignore all the Disney+ crap.

Been spending the last couple of days watching Hitchcock movies - never seen them before. Woah, they are pretty good (except vertigo that was shite). The dialogue is so rich - I kinda wish actors spoke like that again. Only flaw is that his movies end right after the climax. It feels a bit odd. So far I've seen: North by Northwest, Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, Vertigo and Rope.
Any other recommendations?
Psycho is kind of essential!

Wife and I finally got to see this today (thankfully vacation means we can catch up!) Very good, but I can also see how it doesnt play as well with some by being too "kiddy." Reminded me of a modern spin on like Home Alone with a super hero bend. Lots of fun and I hope we get a second one.
According to Levi, they'll be shooting the follow-up in the middle of next year.

That’s also why some of the character work in his movies comes off as cold. Dunkirk was probably his freshest cast in a decades and what was the weakest part of that movie? The characters.
Good thing, then, that characterisation had very little to do with that film's success.

Newsflash: very, very, very few superhero flicks leave a "cultural footprint".

Steve Trevor as personified by Chris Pine, and his relationship with Diana, were integral parts of Wonder Woman and huge factors in its success.

Damn. How do you screw up a feel good story about a cute elephant? Lmao
Get Tim Burton to direct it and clutter it with a bunch of tedious and unnecessary human characters.

I like Burton, even his failures are more stimulating than the products that are dominating the blockbuster scene right now (except of Big Eyes and Miss Peregrine, those are lame as hell)... But it does feel like Burton checked out from storytelling and stayed just for the stunning & weird imagery that he likes to come up with. Feels that way since the Apes movie, but this decade it got progressively worse.
Burton has always been a terrible storyteller.

am i the only one who thinks WW is overrated? im glad it was a hit because its a female superhero lead movie but i found it kind of boring at times.
Not overrated in the slightest. In fact, it's underrated, what with all the muddleheaded criticism of the third act.

I wondee if if that’s true or he is just saying that to look good
Who knows? According to The Hollywood Reporter, he financed it himself and kept it to a low $20 million, despite Disney and Universal offering him a larger budget.

Of course. So many of these kinds of films have failed recently that one would have to be wilfully obtuse to not acknowledge it as a huge factor in this debacle.
