Watching a movie on Netflix is definitely not the same. It's much easier and people would be more willing to check out something that essentially doesn't cost you anything.
Exactly. Some moron lazily "watching" a piece of crap like Bird Box on his/her smartphone because they've got nothing better to do is the absolute nadir in passive, unquestioning media consumption.

No it is extremely hard thing to do, a lot of people that had quite success on other medium that failed to do mediocrity in movies (on the studio release level)
Oh, I see. So you're saying that most films don't even rise to the level of mediocrity? Because if so, I wholeheartedly agree.

The Mule run is quite impressive, specially considering how just mediocre all around the movie is (not that it is hard to achieve mediocrity with a feature film)
Fixed that for you. (That is what you meant, right?)

Captain America also needed the Avengers and Spider-Man/Black Panthers debuts to reach that milestone. So I'd say his is less impressive than the other 4.
Civil War was a Captain America film in name only. Basically, Aquaman has beaten every MCU entry bar Iron Man 3, Black Panther and the Avengers flicks. That's an incredible achievement.

This movie is a big question mark for me. The original was so good and so well received that I fear impossibly high expectations from audiences, critics, and just the industry in general. I fear that no matter how well it is made, people will be inevitably disappointed by it. I want it to do well, critically and financially, but the first film did so well already, and those kinds of successes are hard to equal, let alone top. Overall, at this point I am most curious about Cheetah's feline look. I hope that they don't skimp on the F/X to make her look realistic and menacing (as opposed to laughable and fake). I am also nervous about the new scriptwriter (the guy who did The Expendables, isn't he?)...why would they not use Allen Heinberg again? He is a solid writer (and he gets comics).
No need to worry. Patty Jenkins won't let us down.

Just watched the first film again and it was outstanding all over again.
Steve is the best love interest in any superhero film, for me. It really is so well done and their final moment together is so emotional.
Could not be more excited for the next story.
I rewatched it too a couple of days ago after seeing Aquaman. It's so good. No Man's Land is of course superb, but the third act (which is brilliant) had me blubbering like a baby. Very emotional.
And Gal's still utterly gorgeous.

That's very true. Most artists don't make a dime on music sales.
What they need is a songwriting credit on a perennial hit. Mariah Carey makes a lazy $4 million a year just from "All I Want For Christmas Is You".

And I'm not sure about Stan & Ollie and Destroyer's platform openings. I think they're average? Not too glaring but not too concerning? Now that I think about it, I think Destroyer should declare and ramp up towards a wide January release. It seems like a film that'd have a solid January wide release debut, one similar to something like 12 Strong and Den of Thieves from last year. I know they were trying to get Kidman an Oscar nomination but the film would've still benefited from a wide January release... Plus, that would've ramped up Kidman's supporting actress chances (maybe).
Nah, they're both very poor debuts. But what fun to see all these awards-baity films crash and burn!

Aquaman May be successful but it’s objectively a bad film imo.
You realise that's a contradiction, right?

that's also the first Mary Poppins so I don't think is a bad concept to make money.
Yes, but the first Mary Poppins had amazing, classic songs and Julie Andrews (and as good as Emily Blunt may be, she's no Julie Andrews).

Okay are those estimates for the weekend or? Can we have some context? Did Aquaman opened last weekend? I though it was supposed to open today.
You thought right, those Aquaman numbers are just for its opening day, Dec 26th. Extraordinarily, some cinema owners actually expressed surprise at its success; apparently, they thought Ralph would top the day's takings! Such a level of cluelessness is practically congenital.

Why should either of these be a surprise? Vice has never looked like a crowd-pleaser. and Holmes and Watson's release comes over two years after it wrapped.

Why does Venom like tots so much I wonder.
Greatness recognises greatness. Hardy's obviously a smart guy with terrific taste. Unlike some others.....

Hardy 100% went rogue on this one and he is an icon for doing so
This thing is like Thor 2 or something if a normal actor was playing the lead
Hardy's said that he based his performance on Woody Allen's neurotic screen persona, which explains the hilarity and makes him an utter hero in my book.

Poor number for Mission: Impossible 6. Surely one of the Greatest Action Films Of All Time, featuring one of the Last Great Movie Stars should be comfortably on its way to $1 billion or more! Perhaps there's something about Thomas Mapother IV that just turns a lot of people off. Wonder what it could be?

Apparently Marvel invented having humor and one liners in blockbusters
No, but they've perfected the art of having "humour" and "one-liners" that are singularly unfunny.

Cruise was terrible in The Mummy. Nothing about that disaster was tolerable.
Not only was his performance bad, but he looked awful, too, especially in any scene he shared with Annabelle Wallis. And that bit in the morgue! It looked like they'd stuck Cruise's head onto the body of a midget body-builder. Freaky.

Pity Tim Burton's a rotten director.

Gal looks sooooo good in these pics, round-of-face and ponytailed. Lovely! But I wish they hadn't jumped to the 80s - it would have been great to see her rocking some 60s or 70s fashions.

As someone who loathes both Disney and Star Wars, I must say it is an utter delight to observe the alacrity with which the former is so comprehensively fucking up the latter.
