I am curious how it made her feel to learn it was bad, not unlike how the disappointing response to Eternals affected Kumail Nanjiani. We may know down the line.
Don't take it from me. Regarding ABY, I've read some people feel the same as I do and others who feel differently so you can make your own judgment there. With Madame Web, there clearly doesn't seem to be much to her in this movie due to the writing of her character and the other characters.
She was solid in The White Lotus as well. I personally didn't think she was particularly good at comedy in Anyone But You and I've seen a good number of reviews express that sentiment, but clearly there are plenty of people who didn't think so or didn't care.
Don't think Madame Web will enjoy the same surprise success that Anyone But You did, though.
Kelly Marcel is indeed like Simon Kinberg on Dark Phoenix.
Or David S. Goyer on Blade Trinity.
SJ Clarkson is different in the sense that she already has directing experience, but it has only been for TV. The others are writers doing their first directing jobs.
Okay, but your opinion is not the reigning authority.
The thing about Madame Web that should have caused Sony to say stop was Morbius. After the response to that movie and seeing this movie had the same writers, I would have said scrap it.
It's on its way there. The review count I'm seeing right now is 54 with only 9 fresh, so even though the score hasn't been updated, it's technically down to 17%, which is really 16.67% based on actual math.
They *should* have buried it.
Or really, stopped it before it started. The level of promotion is ultimately just almost the absolute bare minimum, which is what happens when a studio doesn't have confidence in their product.
