I imagine domestically we'll still get the odd sleeper hit like an It or American Sniper.
The sleeper hit you talk about is Pikachu

That would be pretty weak, that doesn't seem in line with the recent trends.

I see, but to be fair many Marvel movies look pretty generic and that doesn't prevent them to be huge, casual audiences don't care.
Already predicting Gotg 2 numbers for CM

Not sure a weird family-friendly edit of Deadpool 2, built around an American cult classic movie, was the best way to introduce the character to the GA in China. I wonder what it means for X-Force or the next Deadpool (if they ever happen).

Things are bad in India for censorship but atleast R rated films are released.
They did release a censored version of Logan tho which worked did well

Last time the Pikachu trailer played the parents looked more hyped for the movie instead of their toddlers.
If WB doesnt mess up the distribution like general I think this live action Pokemon flick can be as big as Jurassic World

But just like Aquaman, plans can change (and Aquaman waited for the last month for a real second trailer).
A very crucial part about Aquaman's marketing run was people overlook about the marketing is that no big MCU/DCEU/Xmen movie in the last 3 years had a release gap of more than 5 months.
After Antman 2 release what was left to show for future with regards to MCU ?
- IW sequel marketing wont pick up
- same with the nearest MCU installment in CM
- no 2nd Xmen live action like the last time
All the Live action SH heat was directed solely on Aquaman it really never had fight for attention to its core demo. Which is why it had so much laid back of a push.
*** No SH movie in the last 3 years or the next 3 years will have that much cool down period imo (Aquaman had >5 months window after Antman 2 and had >3 months before the next live action direct comp)
(Venom was never a direct competition in size/scope in US)

The constant whining about DC films marketing is so obnoxious.
You give a teaser than you better deliver on it with the full trailer as simple as that

If you already plan on seeing the film, why are you so bothered about being able to see more footage before the movie?
thats not how movie trailer works...

Giving a teaser for a much discussed about trailer and not delivering the successive footage is a really dumb move imo.
Makes them look like a loser who just released a small teaser out of nowhere randomly

> release a trailer at Brazil comic con but not release it online
> build hype for the trailer
> gives a teaser of the trailer a month later
> builds even more hype for the trailer
> leave people hanging days after releasing the teaser but not the supposed trailer itself
excuse me what the fuck
Way to go ace marketing team

That was the best response to my posts? How disappointing.
your narrative was as forced and out of the blue as the one you were trying to discredit so it wasnt worth much to begin with

The 2 DC movies together will be about 60-70% of Aquaman's budget and have a shot to match Aquaman globally combined.

I don't disagree with you. His charisma definitely helps the movie a lot and Snyder cast him. I don't deny that Snyder is apart of the success but Snyder's problem was never casting. The casting in his movies is good and interesting 95% of the time. It's the film surrounding the casting that causes the 65-70% drops. No matter what one thinks of the film Wan is a good popcorn director. Momoa was not going to be allowed to drearily mope in his movie the way Cavill is forced to. Wan was not going to have people walk out of his movie in a depressed state.

I love that Aquaman was a raving success that crushed the competition despite smug media types predicting it to flop. It feels me with glee. I just hate when Snyder types use unsubstantiated reports to try to steal glory from non white male directors. Post Justice League Aquaman wouldn't be passing 300mil this weekend if Snyder had directed it.
He had minor producer credit in WW and AQM and I never seen Momoa,Gal or Ezra them mope in BvS,SS cameo or JL trailers/movie in whatever capacity there role were in those film , maybe i saw a different but your critique is as uni-dimensional as u think of Snyder's handling those character himself

Wan is the reason that Aquaman is making a billion. Not the only reason because 100's of people are involved but more of a reason that Snyder.
ahem... this movie wont have worked to this degree without Momoa' Arthur
