Zero needs good reviews, if it gets them I can see it being the biggest grosser of the year.
The hype is set in for this i think.
This will pull a Happy New Year regardless of its reception even if bad reviews crash and burn its latter run

So looks like Chinese demo will play a lot more deciding factor in the success of Venomverse.
Does this diminish the chance of a Rated R sequel which might be more tuned in for Chinese audience ?

If Venom opens to $65 then SMH legs (which were pretty bad) will take it close to $110 total. Hoping for $120 total which would keep $700 ww plausible.

Venom outpaced Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Age of Ultron & Captain America: Civil War in Chinese advance ticke sale at the same point. It probably would be the second-highest pre-seller of superhero films in history(only behind Infinity War).
Can you say that initial piracy might have boosted the early audience interest ?

This WAS the freaking competition-free spot.
You dont think any Marvel+some Animation movie combo wont be on November slot after they had so much success with it and having a hiatus from that month in 2018 and 2019 ????

maybe they don't want competition with CM
Dont know about that man. Given how the fast MCU pre-post production moves they'll probably announce few projects weeks after Avengers 4 and will finish them before Q4 2019...

I'm no expert in Chinese BO but this bode really well for a very healthy run for the next 2 weeks

I want to say I'm excited, but with how The Conjuring spin off films have been, I would be lying.
But it will be a smash hit. I know that much.
The Scare Diego clip was received very positively more than The Nun one.

10 odd from Japan
10m is just too low for a Sony owned/marketed SpiderMan-spinoff brand feature in their own country imo.

Until they make a massive turnaround, DC should just step back.
One doesn't make 4-5 in-production movies by getting chump changes for a "damaged" brand which gets console games on biannual period, half a dozen tv network shows , investing in half a dozen more on the back of their own streaming service , a premium HBO show and god knows what they'll have to announce

First Man opened to Star Wars level numbers in India. Unfortunately for First Man, Star Wars movies all flop in India.
thats a much better Indian audience overlap than Star Wars imo

People used to claim that R rated horror films didn't make money for some reason
Wait weren't most of the iconic horror franchise/box office hits that kicked off the genre itself and the ones still kicking around mostly composed of Rated R movies ....
Almost all the horror franchise that comes to my minds are Rated R movies

It's distributed by the same guys who had Brawl in Cell Block 99 and Terminal whose theatrical releases were so limited they don't even have pages on BOM, and they went on VOD either the same week or a week later. So presumably you'll be able to see this at home within weeks or even days.
Uh... It's already out on digital stores and torrent sites...
