In $??
Don't expect that much of a contribution from this market in term of OS BO tbh.
Still I can see the final total at around $15 mill-$25 mill (I'm more on a conservative-not that bullish side right now).
It bit conflicting is
1) All the MCU and hollywood franchise movies post 2015 (thats year when Hollywood tentpoles starting witnessing huge business tipping over coveted 15mill USD mark here, they were few) have been in sorta downward trajectory maybe because of the overperformance of 2015 with Ultron,JW and F7 but anyhow all phase 3 movies they missed that mark and settled with a respectable 10 to 13+/-0.5 mill usd (and most hollywood action imports which have favourable screen count/distribution in general).
2) Fuck it , this the most hyped movie of the decade coz we all know Avatar sequel aint making it before 2020 and every Avengers movie has managed to be the top hollywood grosser here at the time of their respective release date. And going by the infinite hype train and advent of online ticket booking it can go as big as $35-$40 mill and dethroning Jungle Book for the crown(that maybe too far off coz that worked as a 4-quad family film with higher amount of marketing than usual but its only IW that can challenge it)

That was resolved last year

The Nun will bow September 13 this year.
Also is there a 1 week delay ?

Right thread ??
In addition, the studio set a date for an untitled ConjuringUniverse film, which will be bow July 3, 2019. No other details on that, but the New Line franchise’s spinoff The Nun will bow September 13 this year.

And have you read that HK fans/cinemas/authorities protesting/strictly restricting/banning tourists from Mainland China (or any tourists from any other countries) to go to watch any movie in their first few days of showings? Have you? Or you just spoke not based on evidence but on wishful thinking?
Come on, it is not like tens of thousands of fans are have time and money to flock to HK to watch IW, but as I carefully worded earlier "a number of" those "ardent fans", probably hundreds of them will go to HK. I am sure HK, being such a large metropolitan with huge numbers of tourists throughout the year, can accomodate hundreds of extra audience.
I am talking about actual tickets availability for the opening weekend but whatever

Nah, I am sure quite a numbers of those guys (and gals) will see IW even earlier than you guys in US - they will fly (or take train) to Hong Kong when it premieres there on 25th April. Yes, I have read (in Chinese) the fans are making arrangement to visit HK to watch IW.
And what makes you think that the native fans in HK will just rest and let their mainland guest take all their hot seats of the premiere in their own hood like a good guest
Hell no

Night before Shanghai Marvel Celebration.
More than 1000 fans camp outside Disneyland Shanghai
They know that those guys aren't showing them the movie until everybody else has seen it 3 week before right ?

think there is still both a lot of goodwill for those characters and the general concept
Ok this was the actual reason behind why the Oscar winner Suicide Squad worked.
You can botch the story but if you sell the characters and the dynamics right enough you get few more chance to make further amends in cinematic universes.
Which is why there is still some hope left with the SS sequel and a Justice League sequel (granted DCEU can mostly work out with solo outing , which looking at the bigger picture they actually have with decent to great results in form of Man of Steel and Wonder Woman)

mean 5 years for people to forget how bad the first one was.
I'm saying that the hot topic crowd will grow out of it.
Your platinum certified music album , your Oscar upset , all record breaking harley hot pants and comics sales and all those accolades will lose relevance and might not provide much momentum to the next installment.

I too hope the stigma of the first movie is washed off as soon as the 1st trailer of SS 2 is dropped

If anything, the fact WB isn't rushing the sequel is a good thing
Thats good but I don't want a pacific rim 2 like situation it take them 5 years to capitalize.
It will already be closing to 3 years around fall 2019. The only one ik of with the biggest installment gap in recent CBMs that was able to keep the franchise relevant enough/successful was Logan.

Lol, are you serious? Movies can be cancelled no matter if someone's hired or how deep it's in development. Spider-Man 4 was cancelled 2 months before filming start date, deep in pre-production, and there are millions and millions of similar examples.
Shit is too lucrative/profitable to not justify a sequel.
Suicide Squad is one of the most profitable brands to happen for WB' and their bid to farm IPs in the recent years

We got a Superman-ish movie last year.
It was Justice League.

I imagine many of the franchise entry non voice role could never happen or take time, must be hard to schedule those assemble movie that were not locked to happen in advance:
Lol Bad Boys with Will Smith ain't happening it's either salvaged as TV show or get the Independence Day sequel treatment.

My nearly full crowd loved it, claps and hollers at the end. I thought it was awesome, it's a giant monster movie. It does what it is supposed to do.
It has an A- cinema score I guess people loved it

Since this has a huge budget aiming for the widest possible audience, it won't be as entertaining Deep Blue Sea or as schlocky as Piranha 3D.
this is partly made with Chinese production so my bet is it makes up for that with the extensive creature feature element (China loves big monster, never count that out).
So it partially an underwater Jurassic World too imo.

It's not quite as dramatic as Pratt's transformation but he looks good.
Hardly matters if he's covered from head to toe for the rest of his screen time in the film
