  1. My local Falmouth theater doesn't even have tickets available yet for Venom. L O L. Nor does the new Apple Cinema that took over from Cinemagic. The Newington Regal has 18 tickets sold (16 Premium, 1 3D, 1 2D) and is starting off with 7 showings. ETA: So update on the Cinemagic/Apple sale. It looks like Apple bought Four of Cinemagic's theaters -- Saco IMAX, Westbrook, Hooskett IMAX, Merrimac. Interesting they didn't buy Portsmouth. Probably thought the Fox Run Regal was enough to support the area. (The theaters were only 5 miles/10 minutes from each other.) Best news thought? Their website, when buying tickets, shows "X Available". No counting when snagging numbers. Muahaha. So it's still going to take some time (I won't really officially start until Saco IMAX reopens), but I should go back to covering at least 11 independent New England theaters + the Regal. They're SUPPOSED to be open for end of September, but who knows. (TBH I bet the hardest thing right now is finding the staff. Part of me thinks I should apply, but I know better than that).
  2. Even better. I am totally in team "every film now-a-days is 5 to 10 minutes too long."
  3. And we're back! We're starting at 9PM with To Live And Die in LA. Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/5423825182?pwd=T1VuUmJ5OVB1ZjRNQmNHRVpDQ3lkUT09 Meeting ID: 542 382 5182 Passcode: BOT

  5. Okay, cool, moving on, when are we gonna get the Wenwu What If?
  6. I sought on a premium regal screen and I thought it looked crystal clear. There were two sequences that I might have rolled my eyes out because I thought they could’ve tossed in some more light, but over all good. I saw it again on my local screen, and I thought it was really dark. So it might just be the quality of the equipment you saw it on. Unfortunately. As my friend jokes, hopefully James Cameron will force everyone to upgrade their projectors for Avatar 2.
  7. I’m going to blame Eric. I would’ve let them post it. (Mom = Mod)
  8. who wants to tell him it’s not a “debut” if it’s got a 2, 3, and 4 behind it. How else are we going to get to 100 pages? 🤔
  9. IDK about that but personally I am totally cool with him taking an arrow mid way through Hawkeye. The mentor always has to die anyway. Heroic Journey. Yada yada.
  10. I kept hearing about them but wasn’t paying attention. Then Punk crawled out of his grave. He and Danielson are the two that got me hooked one wrestling. And when they stopped I kind of stopped. But now it looks like I am back in. All Out was ridiculous. That cage match was a masterclass.
  11. Is anyone else watching AEW? I just finished All Out and am All Out Freaking Out.
  12. That isn't what I was saying at all. I was just saying I don't think it's shocking that Wenwu is the breakout character. 🤷‍♀️
  13. TBH, and maybe this is just a Western Trope, but none of this is shocking. Particularly for Lady Fandom. The cliche of "everyone women wants a Bad Boy" plays out again and again in media. It's not even shocking for the Marvel Fandom. Look at how Fandom is OBSESSED with Bucky and Loki, "tragic figures", "misunderstood villains", etc, yet barely acknowledge Steve and Thor, who are just "boring" and dumb brutes (or warm bodies for their Tragic Faves to fuck). There's an old fandom term called "The Woobie": A "woobie" is a name for any type of characters who make you feel extremely sorry for them. Basically, the first thing you think to say when you see the woobie is: "Aw, poor baby!" Woobification of a character is a curious, audience-driven phenomenon, sometimes divorced from the character's canonical morality. And while it's technically a YMMV trope, it's hardly tough to spot the guy the writers intend them to be, considering all the bad stuff that tends to happen to them. "Lovesick Widower Villain" is literally Lady Fandom Catnip. Also, never, ever, underestimate the power of a DILF.
