There is a movie about a cute bunny and a fox that teach us about stereotype and racism. So i trust Disney what they do with wreck it Ralph.

nd the way pocahontas hair floats in the non exist wind is just gorgeous

I loved that small detail! However, I also expected Pocahontas to be surrounded by the fall-colored leaves that usually floatd around her in her film.

Poor Steve Mc Queen tho, the guy must be so lost right now ...

He managed to convince cinephiles & critics showing characters agonizing for 2 hours on screen was quality narrative and filmmaking.

In this movie, he s gonna have to prove he can actually direct.

    Good luck Steve.

    :)

Funny how one of the biggest Marvel zombies here (yes, Futurist^^^) keeps acting as if he were the authority on "quality narrative and filmmaking." Because we all know that Marvel comic book films is masterpiece-level quality filmmaking. :hahaha:

Wonder Woman was released one year ago today!

True! And a new classic was born (complete with a classic scene --No Man's Land--- added to the Most iconic Scenes In Cinema History list)

Did anyone really expect that a Wonder Woman film would end up grossing 820 million dollars and become a cultural phenmenon?

I sure as heck did not, but then again, I didn't expect it to be good either (after the DCEU's less-than-stellar record).

  4. Wasn't the Death Wish remake dismissed/bashed by a lot of people for allegedly being "pro alt right," "pro gun" and racist?

It will be interesting to see how people respond to a film in which, once again, a heroic white protagonist mows down a bunch of those evil people of color for being evil.

Personally, I was hoping for the villains NOT to be people of color, and I am surprised that in 2018, especially with the anti-Latino narrative that the age of Trumpster has brought forth, a film like this was greenlit.

I feel like some people haven't seen Blue Jasmine.

I saw it. Carol too. Both awful examples of why I don't care for her acting

Scenery-chewing is not the same as emanating genuine emotion.

I don't understand why people think that "BIG" acting flourishes equals actual good acting.

To each their own, I guess.

    The shtick is getting old.

    Nah.

I hate Futurist's usual snark, but I agree with him in this respect.

Blanchett is still the kind of show-offy ACTRESS-WITH-A-CAPITAL-A that constantly generates the kind of scenery-chewing sparks that impress easily impressionable theatre aficionados and snobby film critics, but leave audiences cold.

She may be a fantastic technical actress, but emotionally, she is as warm as a piece of frozen balsa wood.

    Just my opinion, but whatever.

  7. Again, who cares if it reminds people of X film? The top grossing films of all time list is full of films that are based on the template of countless other films. Are we not aware by now that what truly matters is not whether a film is "unique and original" but how it is executed and how compelling the characters are?

Plus, Punisher did not invent the concept of "vigilante sets out to avenge his slain family" anyway...

By the way, I love the tagline ("the system failed; she won't").

And I love the concept of that poster, although the execution seems a tad wonky to me...
