Now I personally don’t really mind — this was fun and moving setup with characters that I like, I had a good time, I will wait for the rest of the story in 10 months and judge the full story then. But for people who insist that movies should be able to stand on their own narratively…

    At the end of the day it’s easy to see the “what” but much harder to pin down the “why.” I don’t know that they really accelerated that much in the end relative to what might have been expected, it was just a property with no already known characters and very low initial sales which makes it much easier to make big proportional gains at the end. The Superman credit leaks might have helped a little bit too but I don’t personally think they were a major driver.

    Jesus Revolution Till Just Mercy Harriet Love Simon Actually most films with A+ CS and less than 20M open do less than 4x legs. Woman King finished exactly as expected from OW based on good comps (iirc I used Harriet simon and FvF)

    Just check out how preview heavy Transformers 2-5 OD were — and that was back on like 7PM instead of 2PM 😛 Some are midweek which is annoying but the true FSS/true fri is a pretty clear ~3 or below so you can easily convert preview % to an IM.
