The big CNN story in the Atlantic made a good point about both Licht and Zaslav. It's theoretically fine to be a disruptor. But cultural and economic changes only matter so much, you need to have ideas for content. Ultimately, CNN's big bright idea was a morning show with Don Lemon and about nothing else. As you said, the main idea for content in entertainment has been Harry Potter and the already flailing DC reboot. Where's the bright ideas if this guy is such a genius?

What a terrible idea though and it's not original at all. No one wants a reboot of Harry Potter and who is it for? The generations that are growing up knowing the author is a massive bigot and won't shut her mouth

Furthermore I think News stations just need to be done away with in general. Who exactly watches the news anymore except for the Boomers? Majority of the generations get their news straight from social media as it's breaking and form their own opinions based on what they see.  They don't need to watch some station where some peon is paid to try to manipulate the viewer into thinking what he thinks or trying a scare tactic which is infamous of FOX to manipulate their viewers which are for the most part the Boomer generation.

You're not interested in The Marvels because you're not interested in Captain Marvel. Just like a lot of people are not watching The Flash because they aren't interested in the Flash character. No one would say that I'm not watching The Flash because I don't know who Supergirl is and how her power works.

I mean I'm not interested in The Flash because Ezra Miller is a piece of shit and Zaslav did his damnest to twist everything about the movie and to just blatantly ignore what it's star did.

I also don't care for The Marvels because Captain Marvel was a meh film and The Marvels just looks very generic.

He's a financial wizard but he's not a content or branding or vision guy. His brightest idea is, what, a ten year reboot of Harry Potter?

which is something mind you majority of people do NOT want and continues to receive criticism anytime JK Rowling opens her freaking mouth.

I hate defending Zaslav but man I really don't understand why people have latched onto him specifically as the poster child for "horrible executives" when Bob Iger literally bragged about using AI recently in the mist of the writer's strike and other executives have done even more disparaging comments in regards to the strike. At least Zaslav, as disingenous as it may be, has put out PR "I hope the writers get a fair deal" statements.

Putting up Zaslav specifically as the one villain in the Hollywood ecosystem seems like an incredibly dumb notion to me as no matter who you replace him with, it'd probably be equal if not worse. If he gets kicked out he's probably gonna be replaced by someone even more cynical and it's not like things will improve at all.

Bob Iger got dragged to hell for those comments he made as well. I think what is overshadowing those comments is him destroying the clown fascist from Florida.

Also Zaslav only made those comments after he was booed off the stage during a graduation speech he was making.

  5. We all know that in 2025, Zaslav is going to sell WB the first chance he gets, lets just see how bad he will damage the brand before then. The slot in 2024 doesn't seem like it'll produce a single big hit aside from Joker 2 and that's if these films don't get delayed because of the writers strike.

Zaslav destroyed CNN completely, diluted the valuable HBO brand, and has yet to have a single one of the genius ideas he is hyped up for in terms of actual content and innovation for either movies/TV or news divisions. His cuts have returned temporary value to shareholders but unless he finds a way to generate lasting content in both entertainment and news then the company is fucked.

The only thing he's done to make MAX valuable is cut a crap ton of content and fire a lot of people. Not a single one of his projects has been successful. The Idol is a show he himself said was heavily involved in, it's a critical and financial failure in every way shape and form.

All his hype projects have also been delayed indefinitely because of the writers strike which is something he disrespects daily.

If they fire Zaslav that'd probably increase the chances of WBD being sold, not reduce them. Also none of the films can be put on him, yet, as he didn't shepherd them, he just inherited them.

They absolutely can be put on him, he's responsible for all the decisions being made at WB. He's responsible for the marketing campaign of all these films. The failures he has right now at WB all over are HIS responsibility.

The entirety of his MAX campaign has been an absolute flop. The Idol which is a show HE greenlit is a financial and critical failure in every aspect. All his hype shows have been delayed indefinitely because of the Writers Strike which he continues to disrespect DAILY with the vitriol coming from his mouth.

He's a failure in every way shape and form.

    Quote

    Zaslav made Max profitable.

You know you could be a Zassy sheep without being a liar bro.

Isn't there a rumor that Warner Bros is relying on The Flash to give them enough cash to properly promote their new projects? Their 2024 only has The Joker as the one project with the potential to gross $200,000,000+

I hope this is true because Zaslav is such a piece of shit all his failures just highlight the embarrassment he already is and if anything may drive the board at WB to fire his ass before he has a chance to sell WB which he will the first chance he gets and he probably is going to ultimately lose money in the end and have to sell it for cheaper then he purchased it.

All the films he said were going to do great have all been giant flops both critically and financially.

  9. I'm very confused by some people that think Miles and Gwen is not set up as a romance. I'd say there was one key moment to set up romance.

It was them paying homage to the upside down kiss in Spider-Man 1. That was very clearly telling that these two are set up as a romance.

Also the way both of them reacted to Hobie and Margot was pretty damn telling as well.

  10. Just for the record I saw some people say that SAG joining the strike could mean this could take 3 months to resolve.

When the writers last went on strike if memory serves that took 7 months to resolve that strike.

3 months is a much better wait then 7 months, and with the shutdown of Hollywood the process will be sped forward to find a resolution.
