Them being right isn't the point. It's a lack of respect for the good faith negotiation process that it's coming from them before it is straight from sag AFTRA. They care more about "calling it" than just letting things play out as the parties involved want it to.
SAG has been basically awful during this whole strike. WGA handled it leagues better they truly should be embarrassed. I'd give Fran a severance package and get her the hell away from her position.

Literally what Jeff Snieder and John Campea are saying.

John Campea is basically saying it's over as well, or close to. Actors gave in on residuals, in response studios likely will give in on AI.

i thought they already owned hulu though...

Im telling you guys if SAG just focuses on the AI thing and just throws away the stupid streaming revenue thing the strike would be over immediately. I also think that if you put it to a poll, SAG members probably at this point don't give a crap about getting a cut of streaming. They just wanna be able to go back to work.

Yeah the people working on the films don't deserve a share of the pie, only those hard working cool CEOs and shareholders do.
Streaming services are a lot more than just scripted shows nowadays.
Why should SAG get a piece of the pie in something they didn't even help create or were affiliated with?

The issue with a revenue sharing percentage is that surely it's not fair that only actors should get it. Surely the wealth needs to go to everyone involved in a scripted production.
I do think Fran probably have bitten more than she can chew and currently doesn't want to concede. I'm not sure about Duncan Crabtree-Ireland but I wonder if the studios would rather work with him and the others at SAG to get things done.
Crabtree is the more level headed of the two by far. I'd just tell Fran to just start her vacation or something.

The current big issue seems to be SAG wanting an precentage of streaming revenue.
Which is something they do not deserve and certainly not the 53 cents per subscriber they want.
-
The subscriber levy is untenable imo because a large portion of content on streaming services aren't even SAG-affiliated, and they would be collecting revenue on every subscriber regardless of whether they actually contributed to revenues.
For example if Squid Game game show blows up in popularity and nets them 2m subscribers, they'd have to pay $1.14 million to SAG even though they had no part in getting those subscribers. Or say peacock gains 5m subs from the upcoming Olympics, why do they have to pay SAG for that?A lot of the content on streaming services has no affiliation with SAG. Game shows, Reality TV, Non-Fiction documentaries, Anime, Foreign shows.
Why should SAG get a cut of that content when they have no affiliation with SAG? That subscriber thing SAG is demanding to me is absolutely ridiculous.

What can he even do
As the governor he probably realizes how badly this is effecting his states economy and that he will probably bring in an unbiased third party to handle the situation.

If the strike bleeds into next year then surely Gavin Newsom will have to intervene at that point?
I'd say he intervenes before that, he may force them to get a deal done in November.

SAG needs to understand they're not gonna get a cut a streaming revenue and if they are there's gonna be heavily limitations. Not every show deserves a cut of streaming revenue especially if it's a show that does not perform well. Asking for anything above .050% if way too much.
Focus on the AI thing, that's the most important thing.
Nobody is talking about the true people being screwed over here, crew members which if this continues will not have a paycheck for close to to 9 months.

It really bothers me how little Fran and the actors care about the true victims of this strike, and that's not them. That's the crewmembers, the people that never get appreciation and have been out of a job for 6-7 months at this point.
SAG continues to embarrass themselves everyday.
-
SAG gotta let this shit go, you're not gonna get a 2% cut of the profits, hell I wouldn't even do .050. I'd give them .025% and that's only for the successful ones.
You should not get crap for the garbage shows that bomb, that's ridiculous. They're asking for revenue share regardless of shows performance, that's not happening.
-
Also there are some actors that have spoken up and said Duncan Crabtree is a lot more level headed then Fran whom on the John Campea show the SAG actress on their claims she is way too emotional and lets them get the best of her.

Hey guys I was wondering about something is it common for a show to have two showrunners and then the following season one of the showrunners leaves usually the more seasoned one because the network hired the seasoned showrunner to allow the younger showrunner to shadow him and help him understand how to run a show before giving him the responsibility solo in the second season.
The seasoned showrunner is credited as executive producer for the entirety of the shows run but is no longer gonna be physically involved. Is that common?

24 million dollar opening on a budget of 200 million, boy that was a choice.
-
SAG leadership already embarrassed themselves enough this week.

where's the chemistry, why is this edited like the genre is psycho thriller?

The biggest people that have been screwed over because of these strikes are crew members. They have been given the short end of the stick and have all been out of work for the last 6 to 7 months.
I'm not siding with AMPTP but some of the demands of SAG just need to be cut because you're not seeing 2% revenue from streaming, that's just not gonna happen. You're also not gonna be payed to go out and audition, that is ridiculous.
At best you could maybe get .025% of streaming revenue and that's only if your show or movie is big.

I can't see them getting the 2024 TV fall season ready if they're not able to start till after Thanksgiving
I promise you they can film 20+ episodes in the span of 6-7 months pretty easily. All the streaming shows probably won't have any issues completing their 8-10 episode seasons.
They also sometimes film multiple episodes at once. It can very easily be done.

I have a question, what's the goal for winter/spring 2024? Are we gonna get scripted programming for some shows to run for 7-8 episode seasons or is the goal now to wait till Fall 2024 to release full seasons because early 2024 is already shot to hell in the network TV world.
