I'd be amazed if it stays flat. That'd be my prediction as well: 20-20-18=$58M
Nah, Saturdays traditionally increase especially cause now they can fill up the morning showings which they can't do on weekdays.
It'll be in the 60's or 70.

Yeah hope so too but I’m fine with whatever result. I enjoyed the movie. Can’t really stress too hard about box office results
Just be happy we have more movies to come. Hopefully a Red/Blue film or a DP 2 with the legendary birds.

Saturday higher than OD Friday by 25%?
Oh so you're saying it'll be even higher. Good to know! So it's definitely beating it's tracking then.

What transpired again?
Endgame only had 16 million.

Pikachu Saturday is probably gonna be about a 25. So it'll be at 45 million. I don't see Sunday getting a measly 8 million so I think it's safe to say Pikachu is beating it's tracking.

I don't see how you get a 53M weekend off of an 18-20M Friday. Seems they expect it to be extremely frontloaded
They're predictions for Pika are off, by how much we'll have to see but they're off. The day families go to the cinemas is Saturday and Pika is likely gonna be extremely walk up friendly for those families.

If Endgame follows IW's Mother's Day weekend
18
30.3
23.8
72.1
Of course, Pikachu is taking a bigger chunk of some of Endgame's target audiences compared to Breaking In/Life of the Party, so we shouldn't expect it to hold that well. But that 70M figure doesn't seem that off
The Pika figures seem off though.
-
I feel they're off about Pika too. Still think they're in for a surprise. Pikachu will beat it's tracking. A 20 million opening weekend should at least indicate a 60 million OW. That's with a 11 IM.
Family film multipliers Pika should be looking at a 12/13 IM which puts it well above the tracking to a 67/74 OW.

So they think Pikachu won't have a big multiplier despite being a family film? I think Pikachu is gonna beat the tracking. I think it's hitting at least 65 million and can go as high as 74.

detective pikachu 30.3%
@YourMother the Edgelord wanted Pikachu at 30% by this morning. Looks like they got their wish.

Is this becoming a thing where 2 films run together? First Captain Marvel/Endgame now DP/Godzilla, what's next Aladdin/Toy Story?
And how do profits work? Do they split the profit in the showing between both movies?
-
BTW they announced in my theater that they're running DP and Godzilla together. IDK if that's everywhere
-
God I really want to see Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos in the next one and my fav Lugia but I feel like they'd wait for Lugia and Ho-oh.
BTW whom else loved the design of Totodile, it was just a still but he looked flipping adorable. That's one of my fav starters. I squealed. Also Treecko looked adorable as well.
I'm really excited which Pokemon they'll choose for the sequel and how many they'll do. This one was 60.

I'm wondering how the ending is going to affect rewatchability for the GA, I felt my whole theater go WTF at it. I feel it changes the nature of their relationship and cheapens it from the premise, even though it was obviously the direction they were going from the beginning. I'll post again my feelings after a rewatch.
I liked it, it does make me think what they plan on doing for the sequel which is already being written by 21 jump street writer. Ryan Reynolds is definitely attached, they even talk about all the adventures he can have. I feel like they'll have Mewtwo reappear and say Ryan has to go into Pikachu again for another adventure and BAM Detective Pikachu 2.
Whom do you think will be the big focus of the sequel? I would say the 3 legendary birds and maybe Mew.

Peak Cinema is Ryan Reynolds Pikachu depressingly singing the Pokemon theme song. Everyone lost their shit laughing and screaming.

I’m looking at everything and I even posted the bad reviews when the reviews dropped last Thursday
I guess we will see if wom is good with the numbers this weekend
pay no mind to @HouseOfTheSun he's always trying to be negative and start drama. Has done it on the pikachu thread multiple times.

So in my area Pikachu did amazing in previews. All shows sold out in the evening across all 3 theaters. The audience I was in of over 250 all seemed to love the film, and it was a great film.
Will be going 2 more times to watch it! Tomorrow and Saturday.

Nothing kills a sequel/potential universe than a bad movie.
Literally the highest rated video adaptation of all time on RT and keeps on going back up in the 70's but sure bad movie. If it was a bad movie it'd be where Hustle is cause video game + pokemon movie is an F waiting for critics to tear to shreds.

I think $55M would at least be considered a win of sorts considering Avengers has been such an attention-sucking monster.
It's not opening at 55m. Nothing indicates this, and if we're basing performance off theaters then mine are doing freaking amazing.
-
Pikachu is performing pretty dang good in my area. It's 7 pm showing which I am attending is almost sold out and it holds over 200 people.
It's performing way better then Shazam! did, at least in the theaters around here.
I don't understand why we're going back down and Pikachu is almost at 24% on MT.
