169Once upon... seems to have a great opening. If the prediction comes true this would be Tarantinos biggest above the OWeeks of Django Unchained (1,13M) and Inglourious Basterds (940k).
Good! It’s Once upon a time to shine!

We need more films like this. Russia was clearly craving something that’s not a soulless cash grab.

Why wouldn't I believe that? What reason would I have to trust any "user rankings" at imdb or rotten tomatoes? I don't have one.... because there isn't one...
Your theory is everyone got out of Cannes and then went to imdb to rate the movie? Nobody at Cannes did that... something like 1 percent of all moviegoers ever do that. And about half of that 1 percent are weird randos with some agenda....user rankings were notoriously unreliable before "brigading" became a story five years ago.... they're not any better now.
Is that tin foil hat on too tight? You think everyone is lying, the critics, the audience, it’s all one big conspiracy to fool you?

I have a feeling it wasn't 9,000 people who saw it at Cannes...
It wasn’t magically 9,000 after Cannes, it’s been over a month since then and it’s obviously been shown in other places since.

You realize that wasn't for the general public, right?
I would have just said France if I meant general public.

So you know the 9000 nobodies who went to imdb to rate a movie weeks before it opened?
I guess you can believe what you want... but it's all randos here. Which is weird because the only people who aren't randos are.... critics. But we don't trust them because they're basically a different species of human who can't be trusted and never know what they're talking about....
kind of a catch 22 here....
The movie was shown at Cannes may 21st so a large number of these reviews are french people who have seen it, unless you want to believe 9000 people felt the need to post good reviews about this movie because of reasons..

how did they see it then if it just released in the states? and that number contains many fake votes
You’re just upset your club flopped

these are the first people who PAID to see the movie, no free screenings. i trust them more
Lol you think 9000 people saw it free?

reading some reactions on twitter. pretty mixed.
9.4 on IMDb with over 9,000 reviews, 89% on Rotten tomatoes but I’m supposed to believe some random guys Twitter feed?

Even if Disney hadn't said that, this wouldn't have gotten IMAX
You can book IMAX tickets for this in the UK so yes it would have

If you are going to blame the Mouse, then blame the theater owners as well.....
SOme people just don't get it's called "The Film Business" for a reason; main priority is to make money for the stockholders.
5 minutes ago, dudalb said:This. It just had the bad look to open the week after a huge blockbuster with big legs opened.
Disney said 3 weeks or no deal to the cinemas.

Great argument. You're definitely an intellectual and not the lowest common denominator.

There is ONE new release this weekend. One that is a purely adult-driven film. It's a Tarantino film so it's kind of a big deal but it isn't exactly going to be stealing premium screens from TLK when it's going to open to about $40M anyway.
Why you want to paint Disney as evil Nazis because they're mega blockbuster is keeping all its premium screens in the face of one new adult opener is what baffles me.

What's your issue man?
Not sure if I’m more surprised how you’ve worked out a movie that has been out for a week deserves to keep all the big screens because it’s sold more than a movie that’s not even out yet or that what you typed didn’t even make sense and you didn’t notice even after I highlighted it out for you lol

A $191.8M opener in just its 2nd weekend? Of course it's going to have all those screens!
