  1. Box office isn't the only money movies make. One main purpose of box office will be to cover the release cost first, budget can be covered from TV, streaming and home media as well.
  2. Disney sink money in their non-MCU, non-Pixar, non-Star Wars, non-WDAS movie all the time. Things like Wrinkle in Time, Dumbo, Nutcrackers, etc Last thing MCU film will have problem getting announced will be money. Also Eternals wasn't a FINANCIAL failure. It's theatrical returns were $200M globally, same as its budget.
  3. I think $700M for TGM ain't happening, unless there is a big re-release or something. Best I can see at the moment is $670M. Expecting $650-670M final.
  4. Paws of Fury Harkins T-3 Days Shows Capacity Sold % Sold Gross ATP 97 15,931 54 0.34% $548 $10.15 Low. The only comparable number I have is The Bad Guys T-1.
  5. Nope Harkins T-10 Days Shows Capacity Sold % Sold Gross ATP 141 41,499 366 0.88% $5,183 $14.16 Comps 0.532x of Minions - $6M (adj for ATP) ~2.600x of Where the Crawdads Sing
  6. Where the Crawdads Sing Harkins T-3 Days Day Shows Capacity Sold % Sold Gross ATP Early Access 5 731 291 39.81% $3,638 $12.50 Thursday 96 16,175 432 2.67% $4,804 $11.12 Total 101 16,906 723 4.28% $8,442 $11.68 Comps 1.497x of The Black Phone - $4.49M 0.310x of Elvis - $1.15M TBP exploded on last day, so $2.5M is more likely.
  7. screen issue or cinemagoing issue in in North India. South is doing great. I didn't mean that if you aren't watching films you are poor. I am saying having low income makes it tough to watch movies. And low income households we have ALOT.
  8. North India basically implies non-South here. The cow belt has poor cinema infrastructure. South has a strong movie going culture. Non-south don't. Only around 15-20 crores India really goes to cinema, of which half or more would be in 4 states of South. Around 80% of country make less than ₹15k a month. Cinema tix are like ₹150 a piece, a cinema visit to family of 4 cost ₹1k. A family earning ₹15k a month can't afford that.
  9. I can generalise this statement. India is a poor country. The cinemas aren't opening but closing in smaller towns in North India. Its a catch 22 situation, where cinemas there were in poor quality, they couldn't renovate because audience was limited and audience were limited because cinema was in poor quality.
  10. FFH had TLK in 3rd week and took hit from Disney - Sony feud. I had Thor reaching 350, but can easily go over 375 with sort of dead competition it has.
  11. Since I started age thingy sort of. I am 24 but fairly young in Hollywood content. Watched a few of them till 2014 like HP, MI, Twilight, a few of MCU. Started watching Hollywood frequently in 2015-16. So most 24 yo will have 2007/08 as their movie starting period, mine is around 2015. I am old for Bollywood. I feel like the new actors coming up are bunch of bojos and will never be 1% as good/big as stars in peak in 2000s.
  12. Gimmicks can work for sometime in short run. For long run you need stories. Ant-man: Quantumania is probably the most important movie for MCU coming next.
  13. I re-watched Spider-man 1 last December. It is a mediocre movie for today's CBM standard. Yes it was mind blowing for the time because uptil then CBMs were even worse.
