Parasite Week 1: ₹82.17 lakhs ($114,920) on 76 screens and 700 shows during 1st week with 38,113 admits. The film also had a special Oscar Week release in January. I don't have numbers for that. Shall do around ₹20 lakhs today. More screens from Wednesday and next weekend.

TBH I don't get this Green Book hate. Green Book, 12 Years A Slave, Argo and Parasite are 4 Best Picture winners that I have rating of 8 this decade. Green Book was a very good film, not par Roma third act but overall better I must say.

The main production company had its offices in USA and UK. Same was the case with Slumdog Millionaire. In fact no one in India consider these films Indian. I am all for giving Foreign country films awards which they rightly deserve. I am all for it. My problem is that you can't simply take one film as a token. I am saying if you are including Foreign films for the awards, test all of them, that release in USA (if that's the criteria) or just keep it limited to Hollywood. Anyways, just for record, Parasite was my joint favorite film of 2019 along with Knives Out.

And ever since its release, Parasite will have its first Sold-Out show in Chandigarh on its 2nd Monday. That's what Oscars worth. This means that Oscar is award for Hollywood. Just shortlist, nominate and award films produced by/in Hollywood.

Basically because Oscars are Hollywood's award. Just keep it like that. When you give Oscars to a foreign film, you are signifying that this film is better than all films in the world. Now that could be true but problem is you are just awarding a one hyped foreign film while there are 10s of Foreign films every year better than Nominated/Winner Hollywood films. I don't think any of nominated film was better than Super Deluxe (Indian film) this year. There will be other Foreign language films as well.

The film did like $80mn in its local market. Not really a small film.

Either keep it just Hollywood or make it worldwide awards. Hollywood will have hard time winning anything other than visual affects than.

Not interested in Oscars or anything. Neither of Best Picture nominee felt really really good. Also my two top Holly films aren't nominated so it doesn't matter. Parasite was their but I don't think it should be nominated in first place. Just keep it to Hollywood. Why including one selected film out of atleast 20 movies that were made across the world better than other Best Picture nominees from Hollywood. That said, want 1917 to win so that can see how Oscar best picture win boost its BO in USA and India.

No it wasn't. I hated FB2 still there's no connection to HP8. Its like saying CM or Ant-Man 2 being shit would stop Endgame to do what it did. In fact. HP 7 Part 2 did that beating Matrix 3 full run in weekend, without China. Also HP brand has in fact grown since HP DH 2. I know many who hasn't watched HP finale in theatre and will watch HP8, myself included. I actually watched HP first time in 2013.

Harry Potter 8 opening weekend will be more than Matrix 4 full run.
