so for Kev Squad Sony is what Disney is for Jim Gang? Makes sense :D

Yes. I have nothing against Sony unless they screw this up. Well I do kind of dislike them because they can screw this up, and have a history of questionable decisions. It would make no sense to remove Spider-Man, which is why it would truly anger me. The character is at his peak financially and in terms of popularity. I would argue quality as well, though I know some prefer the first two Raimi films which is fine. This is Spider-Man’s renaissance, and as a Spidey fan above all else, Sony messing that up would make me hate the company. Damn, reading that over again I really do sound like a Marvel version of Iron Jimbo lmao.

    I CRIED THREE TIMES

This is going to sound very cringe, but if Sony yanks Spider-Man out soon I hope fans start a boycotting movement. We are so close to getting an uninterrupted, full, great Spider-Man story in the proper Marvel universe. If Sony screws this up I’m done with any of their products other than PlayStation (gotta play Spidey and other exclusives).

Just got back from the best Spider-Man film of all time, and one of the best superhero films of all time as well. And this is coming from someone that absolutely loves Homecoming, Into the Spider-Verse and Raimi's Spider-Man 2.

Y'ALL ARE NOT READY AND WE'RE NOT WORTHY.

Oh and just like I predicted, Charlie is seeing an increase for Avengers: Endgame today, he just reported 0.625m, let's hope it holds, that would be an AMAZING number.

Fuck yes on that Endgame number. I also LOVED Far From Home. I am so excited for the future of Spider-Man. He is already coming into his own as the greatest hero there is. I want to follow him into adulthood, and see the development of Marvel’s undisputed top icon. I’ve said it before, but a true Harry Potter-style journey for Peter like Feige says he wants to do may be one of the greatest hero’s journey stories of all-time. Man I’m so hyped up right now. There is already a Jim Gang. Can we all be the Kev Squad?

  4. Spider-Man getting at least one more movie is basically guaranteed. Personally I want WAY more than that. Peter is only 16. I want to follow him until mid-20s at least. The MCU with Thor is looking to buck the trend of only 3 solo movies per hero, and Spider-Man on his own has so many great villains and possibilities. They could pull of a trilogy of trilogies if they wanted to. One for high school, one for college, one for adult life. He could be the next Tony Stark and then some in terms of being the face of Marvel and the MCU.

Already flopping like Homecoming did expecting actual to go lower and lower

Whose alt are you? Spamming on here and Reddit, I don’t understand what your goal is with these obviously false narratives. I’m sick of you morons saying dumb crap and feeling validated for absolutely no reason. This opening and its legs are so unprecedented and so unpredictable. Homecoming didn’t flop, neither will this. Not even close. GTFO.

SMFFH opened on discount Tuesday with no preview shows and extremely limited midnight shows. In addition to that a lot of dumbass college students that come to the bar I work at didn't think it was coming out till this weekend after the surprise when I told them I saw it today.

I think it's doing well over $200M through Sunday. Fuck I wouldn't be surprised if the gross went up tomorrow. No preview gross to inflate opening day. It's been years since we've seen that.

I’ve actually been slightly toying with the idea that it stays flat. I feel like it is just wishful thinking, but you do have a point that there is no preview gross inflation. And the 3rd of July does act like a Friday. No! Don’t give me hope!

About the swapping of the positions of through re releases. Once Avatar gets a wide rerelease it's over, demand from places which didn't get to see it will be huge, could do hundreds of millions in China

Even if it did not make that much, if it got it back I agree it would keep it until another movie came and got it. Even if it somehow only outgrosses Endgame by $5 million I don’t see Endgame taking it back. Marvel has never done a re-release like that, especially not when another phase was in motion. This weird thing they did with Endgame is unique, and I don’t see a full re-release happening other than MAYBE awards season or something.

  9. Just out of curiosity, since we don’t really have good comps, how do we know this can’t just go nuts the next five days? I’m expecting $180 million to $200 million or so right now, but can it not go higher if stars align? Maybe people did not want to come out today as much as we expected, and will come on later days. A spectacular Wednesday drop would not surprise me at all.

Just like Homecoming the Spider-Man movies will always fall below expectations. People need to remember that, no matter how good it is

Yes, one day of an unpredictable 6-day weekend has fallen below very high expectations. Freak out time! @richtmancharles, we need a not cool!

Audience score from 3k to 5k, increased slightly. This would never happen before the verified system imo.

Not sure whether to interpret it as “WOM is straight fire, will hold great” or “rabid fanboy rush in the post-Endgame world, will be really frontloaded.”

I’m thinking the former because the ratings are SO good. It’s almost shocking I’m not sure whether fanboys can influence it quite that much. Though it would not be the weirdest thing. Surely it is a bit inflated, but I don’t think by too much. We at the very least know WOM is very strong, now whether it is A+-tier we shall know very soon.

Even in comics his identity is revealed in Civil War (I don't remember if it gets reversed though)

It does, he makes a deal with a demon named Mephisto and loses his marriage to MJ because of it. One of the most hated Spider-Man stories ever, which is probably why they will not undo this in the MCU. Unless they put a Skrull in the suit and have Peter appear alongside them to fool everyone.
