  1. It is no mistake that the public turns on him right after Tony dies; he no longer has any close and powerful allies to aid him and his image in crisis. This is where we will truly see him become Spider-Man, I think. Everyone has their identity exposed. His real problem is all of his villains know now, and he has a tendency to leave them alive unlike most other supers. Even Mysterio is probably not dead. The Sinister Six are going to bite him in the ass, and I can’t wait for it! A properly done Sinister Six will be one of the coolest things we get out of the MCU. And that very well may be just the beginning for Spider-Man, he may end up facing all of them in high school. Maybe Norman Osborn will be the threat after that. Or perhaps he assembles the Sinister Six.

I would be disappointed if they undid it tbh, it opens up many new storytelling avenues.

I agree, and it also just makes sense. So many people know his identity and he is so loose with it, like when he had no mask on on the bridge. Or when Happy said he is in love with Spider-Man’s aunt. It will start to get ridiculous if all of these things happen and no one figure it out. Plus all his villains and those ex-Stark employees knew. Unless they do some Mephisto bullshit this is now the status quo imo.

We can hope yes because of lack of discount for ticket prices. Plus a ton will have off the 4th so that makes Wednesday night much better.

Yeah hopefully tomorrow being like a Friday + no discount + superb word of mouth gets a great drop. Maybe $35 million instead of Charlie’s projected $30 million or something like that. I must admit, while a great number no matter what, I am a little disappointed. But there are paths going forward to still reach $200M+ 6-day, and honestly it’s doing $185M+ which is still great. My fault really for getting overhyped over early projections today.

"All Ratings" audience score on RT upticks to 97%, "Verified Ratings" score holds at 98%

I am really hoping for an A+ CinemaScore, though I would be happy with an A. A+ potential is there imo. I know fans are inflating the score, but this high even with fan inflation is very exceptional.

I will say this: I find @IronJimbo annoying as all kinds of hell, but I find here far more reasonable and respectful than people give him credit for. Even more so about @JamesCameronScholar. I respect Avatar and this has been an absolutely insane ride. Just like Zoe Saldana says on this ACE ComicCon panel:

I hope Avengers: Endgame keep dethroning each other throughout the years with every release they have. Both absolutely deserve it, and I’m happy to witness that.

I feel the same about the Jim Gang. Some days I really like them, some days the really annoy me. It’s like the weather...

I wonder what those that ignored the impressive PTA that this film has since the expansion / re-release and still insisted that it would have massive theater drops will say. Most of all, what they were even thinking. That’s why I - mostly - love box office discussion here on the boards, things are sensibly more sane.

I agree. People can flip flop on here, but over on the subreddit opinions change every half hour. Also much less trolling and stupidity here.

Yeah, Avatar is probably done. The only thing that could have stopped it was a drastic theater count reduction some were fearing would happen starting Tuesday. With this and its great holds/PTA, domestic alone from here on out probably gets it within $10 million or less of the record. And of course international can pull enough money in to get it over without needing another Disney push.

That off the cuff remark from 2 weekends ago is about to turn into my second club. Should have made it last week, but oh well, couldn’t quite get myself to believe in it with Pulse down and conventional tracking so low.

    What was it?

  9. So excited to see this in around 7 hours! Now I need to get the hell to bed... Glad to see Rotten Tomatoes critic score went up, and the audience score is ridiculously strong. LMAO at that $125 million 6-day. If WOM remains this strong, double that is quite achievable imo. Not easy, but doable. I’m thinking $200 million+ 6-day at least now. Just like with Endgame, the stars have aligned for this to be a monster.

Just found out from a reddit post that technically Avatar made all of its money in its "original run" . If this is called a re expansion and not a re release than the same can be said for Avatars run. Only difference is Avatar was a slow burn and this was more of a sprint. Would you agree?

    https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&view=byweekend&wk=2010W34&id=avatar.htm

It was out of domestic theaters, out of most foreign theaters, and is branded as a totally new version of the core film. It is even counted separately and then added in unlike Endgame’s new version, which is considered totally apart of the original run. I think Endgame may be re-releasing in some countries it left, so you have that point. But it is still in theaters in many countries, and was still in many theaters domestically as well. The biggest difference to me is that Avatar’s is called the Special Edition and changes the film. Endgame’s is not rebranded or anything, and just basically adds some bonuses after all of the credits. It’s more of an expansion+ than a re-release.
